Redmi has expanded its audio lineup with the launch of the Redmi Clip Neo, its first-ever clip-on earbuds. Interestingly, the launch comes around the same time as the OnePlus Buds Clip, putting both brands in the growing clip-on earbuds segment. While the two share a similar open-ear concept, the Redmi Clip Neo brings its own set of features, including 12mm dual-magnetic drivers, AI noise reduction, and up to 32 hours of battery life with the charging case.

      Key Highlights

      • The Redmi Clip Neo is the brand’s first-ever clip-on open-ear earbuds, featuring a lightweight 5.3g design per earbud.
      • It features 12mm dual-magnetic drivers, four preset EQ modes, and a custom 10-band equaliser.
      • The earbuds offer up to 7 hours of playback on a single charge and up to 32 hours with the charging case.
      • Other features include Bluetooth 5.4, dual-device connectivity, AI call noise reduction, and smart location tracking.

Announced in China alongside the Redmi K100 smartphone, the earbuds also support dual-device connectivity and customisable audio controls. Here’s everything you need to know about the Redmi Clip Neo, including its specifications, features, and expected price in Nepal.

      Redmi Clip Neo Overview

      Design and Comfort

Starting with the design, the Redmi Clip Neo features an open-ear clip-on design that attaches to the outer ear instead of sitting inside the ear canal. This makes it an alternative for users who find conventional in-ear earbuds uncomfortable or prefer to remain aware of their surroundings while listening.

The earbuds use a track-shaped C-bridge with a 0.6mm memory titanium wire covered in skin-friendly liquid silicone. Each earbud weighs just 5.3 grams, and Redmi says the design was refined using data from more than 1,000 ear shapes. The structure has also passed 25,000 bending tests.

Another handy feature is that the earbuds do not have dedicated left and right units, so either one can be worn on either ear. They also support wear detection, automatically pausing playback when removed and resuming it when worn again.

For colour options, the Redmi Clip Neo comes in Zero Black and Pearl White. The charging case has a vertical design with a Cloud-Gap Light Effect 2.0 battery indicator.

Redmi has also collaborated with CryingCenter, a Chinese streetwear and lifestyle brand, to introduce a limited-edition Clip Neo gift box. The collaboration adds a fashion-focused touch to the earbuds, with the package including the standard Zero Black earbuds, a branded carrying pouch, exclusive stickers, and custom gift-box packaging. However, the earbuds themselves retain the same design and specifications as the regular version.

      Audio and Call Quality

Moving on to audio, the Redmi Clip Neo features 12mm dual-magnetic dynamic drivers with dual N52 neodymium magnets. Redmi claims this setup increases magnetic flux by 20%, maximum amplitude by 25%, and loudness by 40% compared with single-magnetic drivers. The drivers also use a diamond-like carbon (DLC) diaphragm coating, which is designed to improve transient response and reduce distortion.

Since open-ear earbuds do not seal the ear canal, bass response and sound leakage can be concerns. To address this, Redmi has included a bass compensation algorithm that adjusts bass gain at lower listening volumes. You also get four preset equaliser profiles and a custom 10-band EQ to adjust the sound to your preference.

Redmi Clip Neo Dual-mic HD calling

For calls, the earbuds use dual microphones with dynamic AI noise reduction to help reduce background noise. Their sound outlets are aligned with the ear canal, while rear pressure-relief vents are designed to manage sound leakage. How well these features perform in everyday use remains to be seen.

      Connectivity and App Compatibility

On the connectivity front, the Redmi Clip Neo supports Bluetooth 5.4, along with SBC and AAC audio codecs. It can connect to two devices simultaneously, allowing you to pair it with your phone and laptop without repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting. Xiaomi pop-up pairing and automatic connection when the charging case opens are also supported.

For controls, the earbuds have physical buttons that support single, double, triple, and long presses. These can be customized for playback, calls, and voice assistant functions. The long-press action can also activate a compatible voice assistant, including Siri on supported Apple devices.

      Redmi Clip Neo compatibility

The earbuds offer additional smart features, including listening-duration and ambient-noise monitoring, as well as location tracking with map-based information and audible alerts to help find them if misplaced. Users of compatible Xiaomi HyperOS devices can also access supported smart-home controls and connected-vehicle information.

      Battery and Others

Moving on to battery life, each Redmi Clip Neo earbud packs a 46mAh battery, while the charging case houses a 520mAh battery. Redmi claims up to 7 hours of playback on a single charge and up to 32 hours in total with the charging case.

The case charges through a USB Type-C port. As with other wireless earbuds, actual battery life will vary depending on listening volume, connectivity, and the features in use.
