Redmi 17 5G arrive with a 7,500mAh battery and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 SoC!

Redmi has officially launched the Redmi 17 5G as its latest budget 5G smartphone for the global market. The phone brings a massive 7,500mAh battery, a Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, a 120Hz display, and Xiaomi HyperOS 3. It also features IP64-rated protection and support for 45W fast charging. In this article, I will discuss this phone in detail, including the expected Redmi 17 5G price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

Redmi 17 5G Overview

Design and Display

Starting with the design, the Redmi 17 5G sticks to a clean and practical look with a flat frame, rounded corners, and a rectangular camera module on the back. It comes in “Black”, “Deep Blue”, and “Vivid Orange”, with the Orange variant getting a textured finish that should provide a better grip while also standing out from the other two colors. 

At 8.8mm thick and 232 grams, this is certainly not a lightweight phone, but you need to consider the fact that it has packed a huge battery. The phone also carries an IP64 rating, meaning it should easily handle accidental splashes and dust during everyday use.

On the front, Xiaomi has fitted a 6.9-inch LCD panel with an HD+ (1600 × 720) resolution and an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. While the resolution isn't the sharpest at this screen size, Redmi is clearly prioritizing smoother scrolling and better battery efficiency over pixel density. 

Additionally, the display can reach 825 nits in High Brightness Mode, making it fairly comfortable to use outdoors. Performance and Software

Under the hood, the Redmi 17 5G uses the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, built on a 4nm process. It is a newer entry-level 4nm processor that primarily focuses on balancing everyday performance and power efficiency. The chipset should be enough for everyday tasks such as browsing social media, watching videos, using messaging apps, and some light gaming.

Memory-wise, it arrives with up to 6GB RAM and up to 256GB UFS 2.2 internal storage. On the software side, the Redmi 17 5G runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. While this would give the phone access to Xiaomi’s latest software features, it would still be one Android version behind, as Android 17 is already available.

However, the price of these top end model are still under wraps. If this device launches here, we expect the Redmi 17 5G price in Nepal to start at NPR 46,999.
