It's got pretty modest specs for a budget phone.

After launching the flagship Xiaomi 17 Ultra a couple of weeks ago, Xiaomi Nepal is back with a new phone launch. And the new Redmi A7 has actually made its global debut in Nepal. It's the successor to last year's Redmi A5, but funnily enough, instead of bringing any sort of meaningful upgrades, the Redmi A7 actually has one massive downgrade. So let me tell you more about the Redmi A7, including its specifications, features, and official price in Nepal.
Redmi A7 Overview
Design and display
Starting with the design, the Redmi A7 opts for a plastic unibody build, flat frames, and curved edges like its predecessor. The phone weighs around 193 grams and measures 8.26mm thick, which were the exact measurements for the Redmi A5 as well. But what's changed this time is that the Redmi A7 no longer has that gold/silver rim around its camera module like its predecessor.
Instead, Xiaomi has opted for a cleaner look this time by placing the camera module on top of a transparent housing. Kinda like the iPhone 17 (review). Actually, its color options, namely “Black”, “Sky Blue”, and “Orchid Purple”, are in line with Apple's base iPhone as well.

There's not much to talk about the Redmi A7's display, though. It has the same 6.88-inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution like the Redmi A5, which is decent enough for casual use. Although if our experience with the Redmi A5 is any indication, we're pretty sure its 120Hz refresh is gonna be limited to the system settings menu. While everything else caps out at 90Hz.
Other than this, the Redmi A7's display covers 70% of the NTSC color gamut. So the visuals on the screen should look decently vibrant enough. Likewise, the Redmi A7 maxes out at just 450 nits of brightness, so outdoor visibility is definitely a massive concern here. But since this guy has DC dimming and since it's also TÜV Rheinland low-blue-light certified, you should be able to comfortably use the phone at low brightness levels.
Performance
Under the hood, Redmi A7 is powered by the same Unisoc T7250 chip as well. It's manufactured under a 12nm process, and it brings an octa-core CPU with two performance and six efficiency cores. Since this chip is specially designed (almost strictly) for casual use, you can expect a decent experience with things like social media scrolling or some light gaming.
Memory-wise, Xiaomi Nepal ships it in a single configuration with 3GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. Once you run out of storage, you can use a microSD card to expand storage as well. And in terms of software, the Redmi A7 runs on Android 15 (Go Edition).
Camera and battery
Now, do you remember that “massive downgrade” I mentioned at the very beginning? Well, that comes in the optics of the Redmi A7 because we now get a 13MP f/2.2 camera at the back versus a higher-res 32MP f/2.0 sensor on the Redmi A5. At least the 8MP f/2.0 front camera has remained the same as before. You can record up to 1080p 30 fps videos from both these cameras.

Moving on, this phone packs a decent 5200mAh battery that should last an entire day under casual usage. It supports 15W charging via the USB-C port, which should fully charge the phone in around 2.5 hours. Other than this, the Redmi A7 has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor as a biometric option.
