Last year, Huawei did something that many thought would be a failure, and no one would follow that suit. They launched the world's first ever TriFold, that came to fulfill the task of both a tablet and a smartphone, which the regular foldable quite didn't fulfill. And following that, it caught the world's eye, and Samsung soon decided to follow it as well. And after quite the hype, rumors, and leaks, the Korean company has finally launched its own TriFold—the Galaxy Z TriFold. This marks Samsung's first twice-folding smartphone after a decade of foldable innovation and 16+ previous foldables under its belt. Now, let's jump in this article, where I will discuss everything about the latest Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, including its specifications, availability, and pricing details.

      Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold Overview

      Design and Build

      undefined

Samsung's gone all-in with the build quality here. The Galaxy Z TriFold features dual titanium hinges (Samsung calls it the Armor FlexHinge) with a dual-rail structure that uses two differently sized hinges. The phone folds inward, which protects the main screen when closed, and the two sides fold towards the center in a way that creates minimal screen gap to reduce both the crease and bulk.

The frame uses Advanced Armor Aluminum, which is a high-strength alloy, while the back is made of ceramic-glass fiber-reinforced polymer. The cover screen gets Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection, and Samsung's also added a reinforced shock-absorbing display layer with a restructured foldable display.

When folded, the phone measures 159.2 × 75 × 12.9 mm, which is quite chunky. But unfold it completely, and you're looking at 159.2 × 214.1 mm with a thickness that varies between 3.9mm (SIM tray side), 4.2mm (center), and 4.0mm (side button). That makes it the slimmest foldable Samsung's ever made when unfolded. The whole thing weighs 309g and comes in a single Crafted Black color option.

One interesting feature Samsung's added is an auto-alarm system that alerts you with vibrations if you're folding the phone incorrectly. The hinge engineering here is quite impressive, considering it has to maintain stability despite the uneven weight distribution across three panels. Similarly, the Galaxy Z TriFold carries an IP48 rating.

      Display

The Galaxy Z TriFold packs two displays, and both are quite impressive. The main screen is a massive 10.0-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 2160 × 1584 resolution (QXGA+). That's the largest screen Samsung's ever put on any Galaxy phone. You're getting an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate, 1,600 nits peak brightness, and 269 ppi pixel density. There's a punch-hole for the selfie camera, and the display comes with a pre-applied protective film.

The cover screen, which sits on the back when the phone's folded, is a 6.5-inch FHD+ (2520 × 1080) panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio. This one's also Dynamic AMOLED 2X with adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate, but it goes significantly brighter at 2,600 nits peak brightness. Pixel density here is 422 ppi, and it's protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2.

Samsung's also minimized the creasing that's typically visible on foldables, and you get Vision Booster for better color and contrast. When fully unfolded, the large screen essentially acts like three 6.5-inch smartphones placed side by side, with a vertical orientation.

      Performance

As expected, Galaxy Z TriFold runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, which is built on a 3nm process. Now, one thing is that, this is actually a generation behind the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 that's currently shipping on flagship phones. It's still a powerful chip, but it's interesting that Samsung went with the older silicon for their most advanced foldable.

You're getting 16GB of RAM across the board, with storage options of either 512GB or 1TB. There's no microSD slot, so you'll have to pick your storage wisely. The phone runs Android 16 with One UI 8 on top, and Samsung's packed in Galaxy AI features throughout the experience.

Security-wise, you get Samsung Knox with Knox Vault, plus a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The usual sensor array is present too: accelerometer, barometer, gyro, geomagnetic, hall, proximity, and light sensors.

      Software and Multitasking

      undefined

Samsung's calling this "a phone for the AI era," and they've loaded it with Galaxy AI integration. You get Photo Assist with Generative Edit and Sketch to Image, along with side-by-side before/after comparison. There's also Browsing Assist for summaries and translation.

But what's really interesting is Gemini Live multimodal AI, which offers contextual visual and speech understanding. You can get real-time design advice from visual input, and the phone supports screen and camera sharing for interactive assistance.

The real party trick here has to be the Samsung DeX, which is running standalone on a phone for the first time. You can access up to 4 workspaces, each with 5 apps, or use Extended Mode with an external monitor. The phone supports three full-sized apps running side-by-side, with a taskbar showing your recent apps. Samsung's also optimized apps like My Files and Samsung Health specifically for this form factor.

      Camera System

The camera setup is sort of decent. You're getting a triple rear camera system led by a 200MP main sensor, that's Samsung's ISOCELL HP2 with Quad Pixel AF, OIS, and an f/1.7 aperture. It also supports 2x optical-quality zoom directly from the sensor.

There's a 10MP telephoto with PDAF, OIS, f/2.4 aperture, and 3x optical zoom that goes up to 30x digital. The 12MP ultrawide rounds out the system with f/2.2 aperture, Dual Pixel AF, and a 120° field of view.

For selfies, you get two 10MP front cameras, one on the main screen with a 100° FOV and f/2.2 aperture, and another on the cover screen with an 85° FOV and the same f/2.2 aperture.

      Battery and Charging

Samsung's packed in a 5,600 mAh battery, which is actually the largest battery ever in a Samsung foldable. It's a three-cell design spread across the three panels. You're looking at 45W wired charging that Samsung claims can get you to about 50% in around 30 minutes based on their internal lab testing.

Wireless charging is here too at 15W, plus Wireless PowerShare for reverse charging. The phone's compatible with Qi and Samsung devices, so you can charge your Galaxy Buds or Watch directly from the phone. Connectivity-wise, you're getting 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. The phone supports up to two Nano SIMs plus multi-eSIM support.
