Sharp, the Japanese electronics brand has launched a new smartphone, Sharp Aquos R9. Sitting in the premium midrange category, the Aqous R9 boasts some impressive specs such as a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chip and a 240Hz LTPO display. Pro-IGZO OLED 240Hz display
One of the key USPs of the Aqous R9 is the 240Hz OLED display. It is not your normal OLED panel but a Pro-IGZO OLED panel, developed by Sharp using crystals such as indium, gallium, zinc, and oxygen. This flat display stretches 6.5 inches with an FHD+ resolution and 1500nits of peak brightness.
Talking of the design, the phone goes for a boxy build with a flat frame. On the rear side, a circular camera module makes space for two camera lenses and an LED flash. YOu also get MIL-STD 810G certification and IP68 dust water resistance protection.

Getting to the optics, the Sharp Aquos R9 houses a dual camera setup with Leica branding on top. The primary sensor is a 50.3MP shooter with f/1.9 and OIS. It is accompanied by a 50.3MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 122 FoV and f/2.2 aperture. Upfront too, there is a 50.3MP sensor for snapping selfies and taking video calls.
Performance
Under the hood, the Sharp Aquos R9 packs a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset. This recently announced premium midrange chip is built on a 4nm process and boasts quite a punch in CPU and GPU power. After all, it features one Cortex-X4 core at 2800 MHz, four Cortex-A720 cores at 2600 MHz, and three Cortex-A520 cores at 1900 MHz. Handling the graphics here is an Adreno 732 GPU. Likewise, there is also a heat dissipation system to keep the thermals in check.
Sharp has paired the chip with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Software-wise, it boots on Android 14 OS.
