Tecno has just released its Camon 50 series!

Tecno has officially launched the Camon 50 in Kenya as the successor to last year’s Camon 40. The new model keeps the same overall features while pushing a few areas like display refresh rate, battery size, and software. This article will discuss everything about the latest Tecno Camon 50, including its price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.
Tecno Camon 50 Overview
Display and Design

The Camon 50 features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, a step up from the Camon 40, which had a 120Hz AMOLED panel with standard FHD+ resolution. So while the screen size hasn’t changed, you’re getting both higher resolution and a faster refresh rate this time. Design-wise, the phone is still slim at 7.53 mm and comes in multiple colors like Moonlight Black, Malachite Green, and Lavender Mist.
Performance and Software
The processor has been changed, but it's merely an iterative change. The Camon 50 runs on the MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate, and replaces the Helio G100 Ultimate from the Camon 40. But both of these are 4G chips, so this isn’t a massive leap either. Performance-wise, they are quite functional, but they will definitely struggle over the years and are not recommended if you are looking for gaming phones.
On the software side, though, the upgrade is clear as you are getting new Android out of the box. The new model ships with HiOS 16 based on Android 16,. Connectivity features also remain mostly the same, including NFC, IR blaster, FM radio, and USB-C with OTG.
Cameras
The camera hardware looks very similar across the two generations. The Camon 50 keeps the 50MP main sensor with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide, which is basically the same setup as the Camon 40. The selfie camera also stays at 32MP, so there’s no real spec bump this time.

Battery and Audio
Tecno has increased the battery capacity significantly; the Camon 50 jumps to a 6,150mAh battery, compared to 5,200mAh on the Camon 40. However, the charging speed stays at 45W wired. But on the other hand, Tecno is also claiming 5+ years of durability. Similarly, audio also remains similar with dual speakers and Dolby Atmos support. Most extra features carry forward. You still get NFC, an infrared remote control, and a full set of sensors like a compass and a geomagnetic sensor.

Should you buy the Tecno Camon 50 in Nepal?
If this lands in Nepal at a similar price, I think it can be a good alternative to devices like the Redmi Note 15 or the Galaxy A17. For eg, Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ at 30k also features the same processor. Hence, it can be a good choice over other phones that are available in Nepal if it comes under 25k.
