Same formula again—but what’s the catch this time?

Vivo has launched its new premium mid-range phone in China with many similarities to last year's smartphone. The new vivo S50t 5G has the same features as the vivo S50 5G, with a minor downgrade you might not notice at first glance. But over time, it might be an issue you cannot ignore. Here, I will discuss the new Vivo S50t, including its expected price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.
Vivo S50t 5G Overview
Sleek design with a smooth screen
The “new” vivo S50t 5G has a lightweight body weighing 196 grams and a slim design measuring around 7.6mm in thickness. It has a glass back framed by an aluminum frame, giving it a silky touch and feel. The back of the phone has a squarish camera module housing the triple-lens setup and the Ring LED in the glossy camera island that Vivo calls “Floating Mirror”. You get to choose from “Confession”, "Inspiration Purple", “Yoyo Blue”, and “Deep Space Black” finishes.

Talking about the display, it features a 6.59-inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K (1260 x 2750 pixels) resolution that serves the premium mid-range phone well, delivering vibrant visuals while consuming content. Scrolling on this phone should also be smooth enough, thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate. It also offers a pretty decent screen-to-body ratio of about 91%, providing a wide viewing area.
Strong performance, but with minor limitations
Under the hood, the vivo S50t 5G uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip built on a 4nm process. This chip is slightly underclocked to make high-end smartphone performance more affordable. This same chip was used in the OnePlus Nord 5 last year and was known for delivering better multitasking and gaming than its competitors. This chip works pretty well for multitasking in day-to-day life, and in 2026, it will also work decently for gaming.

You can use this phone for hardcore gaming, though there might be some limitations with high-end games. The game, like Genshin Impact and COD Mobile on this phone, should run at 60 fps with good stability for long sessions. Though the real-world data are fully dependent on the sensors you are using with this phone.
Moving on, this phone offers you up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM. As I mentioned earlier, it has a minor downgrade. And if you all are wondering what it was, let me explain. Vivo replaces fast UFS 4.1 storage we saw in vivo S50 with UFS 3.1, which might not make much of a difference initially. But in the long run, you might noticeably feel the slower data transfer speed degrading your user experience.
On the software front, vivo S50t 5G runs on OriginOS 6 based on Android 16. Vivo has also promised 5 years of major OS updates and 7 years of security patches for its S-series, which should be quite a good reason to buy this phone for long-term use.

Familiar optics and battery
As for the optics, it has paired the 50MP f/1.9 main sensor with a 50MP f/2.7 periscope telephoto lens and an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide sensor. Also, the main and telephoto lenses come with OIS, which is very good for video stability and low-light photography. On the front, you get a 50MP f/2.0 wide sensor housed in a punch-hole setup for selfies and videos. You can record 4K videos from both front and back camera modules in this phone.

Regarding the battery, vivo S50t 5G packs the 6500mAh battery with 90W wired fast charging support. It also supports reverse wired charging. With this capacity, you should be able to use this phone effortlessly for a day.
