Xiaomi 18 Pro Series Launching Tomorrow with Hardware-Level Privacy Display!

After recently launching its latest foldable, Xiaomi is now gearing up to introduce its next flagship smartphone lineup. The company has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will launch on September 23 in China, bringing the next generation of its numbered flagship phones.

This time, Xiaomi is putting more focus on privacy alongside the usual flagship upgrades. The 18 Pro series is set to introduce a new hardware-level privacy display, while Xiaomi has also teased an upgraded rear display, Leica-powered cameras, and larger batteries.

Xiaomi 18 Pro Series Overview

Design and Display

The Xiaomi 18 Pro series is not exactly reinventing the wheel here. It keeps the standout rear display from the previous generation, but with slimmer bezels and a reorganized camera layout. Xiaomi is also adding a new side button, while the phones will be available in Black, White, and the new Starry River Blue.

Up front, things get more interesting. The series introduces Xiaomi’s Super Pixel 2.0 display with hardware-level privacy protection. Instead of sticking on a privacy screen protector and hoping nobody reads your messages on the bus, the privacy tech is built directly into the panel.

The display uses Xiaomi’s M11 light-emitting system and a full RGB pixel arrangement. Xiaomi claims the new panel is 20% more efficient and can reach up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness, while the bezels measure just 0.99mm.

The rear display also gets an upgrade with Xiaomi’s “Versatile Back Screen.” Beyond showing basic information, it can support things like timers, Pomodoro sessions, water-intake tracking, vocabulary practice, and recipe recommendations. Xiaomi is also teasing AI-powered customization, so this little screen may have more to do than simply stare back at you.

Camera

Xiaomi is giving the 18 Pro series a serious camera upgrade, but the biggest change is hiding in the telephoto department. The series now gets a Leica dual-camera setup with two 200MP sensors—one for the main camera and another for the periscope telephoto.

The main camera uses a large 1/1.28-inch sensor, similar in size to the 17 Pro Max’s 50MP main sensor, so the megapixel jump is not the only change here. The bigger story is the new 200MP periscope, which uses a 1/1.56-inch sensor, 3.2x optical zoom, and can focus as close as 12cm for macro shots.

Xiaomi also claims the telephoto’s light intake has improved by 280% on the 18 Pro and 83% on the 18 Pro Max over their respective predecessors. The series also features a 50MP front camera for selfies and video calls.

Performance and Battery

The Xiaomi 18 Pro series is confirmed to use a 2nm chipset, which is likely Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. Both phones will run HyperOS based on Android 16, bringing Xiaomi’s latest software experience out of the box.

Battery capacity also gets a sizeable bump. The 18 Pro packs a 7,000mAh battery, while the 18 Pro Max gets a massive 8,500mAh cell. Both support 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, so Xiaomi has gone for bigger batteries without sacrificing its fast-charging setup.
