XReal, formerly known as NReal, has announced two versions of its next-generation AR glasses in the form of Air 2 and Air 2 Pro. In this article, we will be discussing XReal’s new AR glasses, price, availability and more!
XReal Air 2 Overview
Design and display
Design-wise, both the models of XReal’s new AR glasses look like, well, sunglasses. The build is pretty similar to regular sunglasses except for a display underneath. The 0.55-inch Micro-OLED display from Sony is the main highlight of both the Air 2 and Air 2 Pro. XReal is the first adopter of this micro-OLED display that has a pixel density of 4,032 ppi, a 21% rise from its predecessor.
Only available in black previously, the Air 2 has now added red as a colour option. XReal also provides 7 different sticker options for additional personalisation. They have also managed to cut the weight of glasses to only 72g by using materials like Magnesium alloy. Furthermore, the company has shifted more of the device’s weight towards the temple. As a result, XReal’s new AR glasses have better weight distribution and achieve better balance.
Features and more
Both the new offerings from XReal provide X-Spatial Sound 2.0, which offers better mid-low-frequency sounds and prevents sound leakage to ensure privacy. These glasses have also received TÜV Rheinland certifications. Meaning, that the glasses are certified to ensure colour accuracy, eye comfort, low blue light, and no flicker.
These new AR glasses also have a companion handest called the XReal Beam, which was released earlier this year. You can use this handset as a remote control for the AR glasses. The beam comes pre-installed with two tablet versions of apps from Bilibili and iQiyi. This addition allows existing users to enjoy their content without having to purchase a separate TV subscription.
Almost all the aspects of both XReal Air 2 and Air 2 Pro are the same. In the case of Air 2 Pro, the only thing different is that it comes with electrochromic glasses. As a result, the users of Air 2 Pro can manually adjust the shade of their glasses on 3 different levels.
