Asus Pad debuts with 144Hz OLED display and Dimensity 8300

Asus has officially announced the Asus Pad (T3201), marking its return to the Android tablet market after several years. The new tablet features a 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED display, MediaTek's Dimensity 8300 chipset, and a large 9,000mAh battery. In this article, I will discuss everything about the Asus Pad, including its features, specifications, availability, and expected price in Nepal.  

Asus Pad (T3201) Overview

Design and Display

Starting with the design, the Asus Pad comes with a magnalium alloy frame paired with a fiberglass back cover, offering a premium aesthetic and durability for everyday use. It measures just 6.5mm thick and weighs 523g, making it highly portable for work, entertainment, or study. 

Moving on to the display, the Asus Pad sports a 12.2-inch 2.8K dual-layer OLED panel with a 3:2 aspect ratio, which provides more vertical screen space for productivity and reading and a fast 144Hz refresh rate for a smooth scrolling experience. ASUS says the dual-layer OLED technology improves brightness, power efficiency, and panel longevity compared to standard OLED screens. 

Additionally, the display covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and is TÜV Rheinland certified for reduced blue light and flicker-free viewing, making it suitable for long hours of media consumption, reading, and creative work.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the Asus Pad is powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 8300 processor, built on a 4nm node. It is paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, which can be expanded by up to 1TB via a MicroSD card for additional storage. 

On the software side, the Asus Pad ships with Android 16 and includes support for Google Gemini and Circle to Search. Moreover, it comes with multitasking features such as split-screen mode to better utilize the large display, while its GlideX ecosystem enables screen sharing and file transfers between compatible devices.

Camera and Battery

For optics, the Asus Pad features a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, which is decent for video calls, online classes, document scanning, and casual photography. 

As for the battery, the tablet packs a large 9000mAh battery that the company claims can deliver all-day usage. It supports 45W fast charging, allowing the device to juice up to 50% in around 30 minutes for quick top-ups when needed.

Connectivity and Accessories

In terms of connectivity, the Asus Pad includes a USB-C port with support for DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery 3.0, allowing both charging and external display output through a single connection. Likewise, it supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for faster and more stable connectivity with accessories and networks.

For audio, the tablet features quad speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos, delivering a more immersive sound experience for movies, games, and streaming content.

On the accessory side, the Asus Pad also offers support for the ASUS Pen 2.0 along with keyboard attachments, making it useful for note-taking, sketching, typing, and light creative or work-related tasks.
