Asus is a well-known name in the gaming industry, be it laptops or smartphones. Not so long ago, the company launched ROG Phone 5 in the market with high-end specs. Adding to that, in its flagship lineup, Asus has unveiled the ZenFone 8. Let's find out more about the Asus ZenFone 8 and its expected price in Nepal.
Asus ZenFone 8 Overview:
Design and Display
Asus has engineered the ZenFone 8 to be a compact flagship smartphone. On the other hand, the company has made no significant compromise with the device. It has a 5.9-inch Samsung AMOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1100 nits.
It weighs just 169g and measures 8.9mm in thickness. The panel brags Delta-E<1, is HDR 10+ certified, and covers a 151.9% sRGB color gamut. Furthermore, the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and supports glove touch.
In terms of design, the rear panel features a camera hump, an Asus ZenFone branding, and nothing more. The frame is made of matte aluminum, and the back is coated with anti-glare matte frosted glass.
Performance
ZenFone 8 is powered by Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 888 processor. The phone is available with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of USF 3.1 storage. There's also a 64GB storage option that uses a comparatively slower UFS 2.1 protocol instead.
In terms of software, it runs on Android 11 with ZenUI 8 on top, and Asus has sought to enhance the user experience with a plethora of built-in customizations. ZenFone 8 is also IP68 certified for dust and water resistance.
The phone has a dual-camera setup at the back led by a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor with OIS, which clicks at 16MP shots by default using Quad Bayer technology. Similarly, the secondary camera is a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor with a 112 Field of view (FoV). It also doubles as a macro sensor with a 4CM focus distance.
On the front, there’s a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor inside a punch-hole cutout on the top left corner. Moreover, the phone can record videos at up to 8K UHD resolution at 24 fps from the main camera. As usual, there are other video recording options like auto video, pro video, slow motion, time-lapse and more.
Rest of the specs
Moving on, the ZenFone 8 supports Wi-Fi 6/6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC too. It has a 4000mAh battery which supports quick charging via a 30W power adapter. For audio, it has a stereo speaker setup with Dirac HD sound technology.
