Dell XPS 16 Creator Edition brings NVIDIA RTX Spark and a 120Hz OLED display!

Dell has officially introduced the XPS 16 Creator Edition, a new addition to its premium XPS lineup with a focus on AI workloads and creative tasks. Unlike traditional XPS laptops powered by Intel or AMD processors, the new model features NVIDIA's RTX Spark platform, alongside an 18-core CPU and a 16-inch 3.2K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. In this article, I will discuss everything about the Dell XPS 16 Creator Edition, including its specifications, availability, and expected price in Nepal.

Dell XPS 16 Creator Edition Overview

Design and Display

Starting with the design, the Dell XPS 16 Creator Edition retains the lineup’s CNC-machined aluminum body, with a zero-lattice keyboard and a haptic glass touchpad seamlessly integrated into the palm rest. It measures 17.8mm thick and weighs around 2.02kg, which is fairly portable for a laptop built for demanding creative workloads.

Moving to the display, it features a 16-inch 3.2K (3200 × 2000 pixel) Tandem OLED touchscreen with a variable refresh rate ranging from 20Hz to 120Hz. The refresh rate adjusts to what's on screen, allowing it to run at a lower rate for static content and use less power when a high refresh rate isn't needed.

Additionally, the panel supports HDR True Black 600 and reaches up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness, helping bright highlights stand out in HDR videos and other compatible content. For creative work, it also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and comes factory-calibrated to Delta E below 2 with Pantone validation, which should help with color-sensitive tasks such as photo editing and video production.

Performance

Under the hood, the Dell XPS 16 Creator Edition is powered by NVIDIA’s RTX Spark platform, featuring an 18-core NVIDIA N1X processor and a Blackwell GPU with 5,120 GPU cores. This Arm-based architecture is designed to handle demanding workloads, from 3D rendering and video editing to running AI models locally.

For memory, the laptop comes with 32GB of unified LPDDR5X RAM, paired with a 512GB PCIe SSD. Since the CPU and GPU share the same memory pool, they can access the same data without needing separate system and graphics memory. This is particularly useful for AI workloads, where larger models can require substantial memory. The platform also supports up to 128GB of unified memory, although the available configuration will determine how much you get.

On the software front, you don't necessarily have to worry about emulation for your everyday creative tools. Dell lists Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Blender as native applications, meaning they can run directly on the Arm-based platform. Other software may rely on Windows' Prism emulation layer to run, so compatibility and performance can still vary depending on the application.

Battery and Ports

The Dell XPS 16 Creator Edition packs a 99Wh battery, although Dell hasn't shared an official battery-life estimate yet. We'll have to wait for real-world tests to see how long it lasts, particularly during demanding tasks like video editing and running AI models.

For ports, the laptop includes three USB-C 4.0 ports with DisplayPort 2.1 and Power Delivery, an HDMI 2.1b port, a full-size SDXC v7.1 card reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The SD card reader should come in handy for photographers and videographers transferring files, while HDMI and USB-C let you connect external displays. You can also charge the laptop through any of its three USB-C ports.
