Dyson has officially introduced its first electric toothbrush, called the “CameraJet.” As the name suggests, it comes with a built-in camera that can capture live footage from inside your mouth while you brush. The new electric toothbrush also uses machine learning and a targeted mouthwash jet to improve cleaning. Starting with its most notable feature, the Dyson CameraJet Toothbrush comes with a built-in camera that captures live footage from inside your mouth while brushing. The camera uses a 100,000-pixel macro lens and works with the MyDyson app, allowing users to see areas inside the mouth that are otherwise difficult to view.

Moreover, the camera is paired with Dyson’s Gap Optical Targeting technology, which uses machine learning to recognize the gaps between the teeth where plaque can build up. The AI analyzes what the camera sees in real time and identifies these gaps, giving the system a way to locate areas that need more attention while brushing.

Cleaning Performance

Moving to cleaning performance, the Dyson CameraJet toothbrush combines its sonic brushing system with a targeted mouthwash jet. Its variable sonic oscillation changes the angle of the bristles as they move, helping prevent them from stalling against the tooth surface. The dual-bristle head uses firmer inner bristles to remove surface stains and softer outer bristles to clean along the gumline. Dyson says the brush head moves nearly 1,000 times per second.

For the gaps between teeth, the Dyson CameraJet toothbrush uses its high-pressure mouthwash jet to target plaque. Once the system identifies a gap, it can trigger a 1-millisecond conical jet of mouthwash within 100 milliseconds. The electric toothbrush also features a 12.5ml mouthrinse tank to supply the jet during brushing.

Design, Battery, and Connectivity

In terms of design, the Dyson CameraJet toothbrush features a relatively sleek and upright form, with the brush head and camera built into the top of the toothbrush. It comes with a Dual Bristle Brush Head, with a Sensitive option also available. Each brush head has an RFID tag that tracks its usage and indicates when it needs to be replaced.

The electric toothbrush is available in Ceramic Ultra Blue and Ceramic Pink colorways, and includes a travel case for carrying it around.

For charging, the Dyson CameraJet toothbrush has a charging dock that can refill the mouthrinse tank in around three seconds with the press of a button. The dock simultaneously recharges the battery and stores the device upright.

On the connectivity side, it supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and works with the MyDyson app. Besides the live camera view, the app provides guided cleaning, coverage mapping, and brushing insights. The company also says the camera only activates during live viewing or automatic jetting cycles, ensuring no personal images are stored locally on the toothbrush or uploaded to the cloud.
