Here are the best gaming laptops under Rs. 150,000 (रु 1.5 Lakhs) in Nepal

With time, the gaming laptop market has become segmented. You can choose from the budget, mid-range, or flagship category. And here, we’ve compiled a list of the best midrange gaming laptops under NPR 150000 (1.5 lakhs) currently available in Nepal.

Choosing a gaming laptop under NPR 150000 (Mini-Guide)

Let’s first start with the things that you should consider before buying a mid-range gaming laptop. At this price range, you should not settle for anything less than GTX 1650. If you are lucky, you can even get laptops with the latest RTX 30-series GPU with hardware-based Ray Tracing and DLSS AI super sampling..

As for CPU, you can go with either Intel or AMD as long as you are getting the H-series processors (Intel 11th Gen/Ryzen 5000 series and newer). Instead, pay more attention to RAM and storage upgradeability.

120Hz screens are common but unless you are into competitive gaming, higher refresh rates should not bother you much. Most of the laptops in this price range come with panels with 250 nits of brightness and 45% of NTSC coverage. Things like portable form factor, metal body, and RGB backlighting are also rare.

Lenovo Ideadpad Gaming 3 Design and Display

We are starting the list with Lenovo’s IdeaPad Gaming 3. The IdeaPad series is usually home to mainstream laptops for home and office. However, Lenovo has expanded it to include affordable gaming laptops. The IdeaPad Gaming 3 has been positioned as an affordable low-cost alternative to the beloved Legion series of gaming laptops.

The IdeaPad Gaming 3 in question comes with 11th Gen Intel Core i5-11320H and GTX 1650 GPU. The CPU + GPU combination is not the best on this list. 5HP Victus 16

Next on our list is the HP Victus 16. Victus is a new budget gaming laptop lineup from HP that sits under its premium Omen series of laptops. The Victus 16 features an all-plastic body and weighs around 2.48 kg.

HP Victus 16 (2021) is the only all-AMD offering in this list of best gaming laptops under Rs. 150000 in Nepal. This means the CPU and GPU on this laptop come from AMD. Like most entries in this list, it comes with Ryzen 5 5600H CPU however, it is paired with Radeon RX5500M.

One thing that HP Victus 16 misses out on is the higher refresh rate. Although the 16.1-inch LCD screen is among the biggest in the mid-range gaming segment, it refreshes at standard 60Hz that can be a turn-off for many.

HP Victus 16 Specifications:

CPU AMD Ryzen 5 5600H (6C/12T, up to 4.2GHz max boost)

Dell G5 2021 Design and Display

The third entry in this list is the 2021 edition of Dell’s G5 (G5511). This particular model of G5 draws design inspiration from higher-end Alienware gaming laptops. The orange accent on the side adds to the aesthetic of the laptop.

Like the IdeaPad Gaming before it, Dell G5 (G5511) is also powered by the 11th Gen Intel Core i5-11260H. But on the GPU side, G5 has the new RTX 3050, which is a superior card when compared to RTX 1650.

Not only is it built on top of newer and more efficient architecture, it even comes with RTX-exclusive features like the Ray Tracing and DLSS super sampling.

While the former may not be that useful for gamers, especially in this price segment, the latter will certainly add a few extra fps depending upon the games.

Next up, we have the AMD version of Acer Nitro 5. There are multiple models of Nitro 5 (AMD) available in Nepal. However, we recommend the one with Ryzen 5 5600H and RTX 3060 GPU. The latter can draw power of up to 95W with GPU Boost in consideration. This combination is definitely better than Core i5-11400H and RTX 3050 on the Intel variant discussed before.

Furthermore, you are getting a 15.6-inch IPS LCD screen with a 144Hz refresh rate, RGB-backlit keyboard, and decent battery life. That being said, the AMD version of Acer Nitro 5 (2021) is a little heavier than its Intel counterpart and misses out on Thunderbolt connectivity

1Lenovo Legion 5

Finally, the best gaming laptop that you can buy right now in Nepal is the Lenovo Legion 5. It was among the best gaming laptops of 2021 and still holds the ground today. Strictly speaking, it is not a Rs. 150,000 laptop, however, we will recommend you to pay the extra Rs. 5,000 as you will be getting a better overall laptop.

With that extra investment, you can take home the Ryzen 7 5800H + RTX 3050 Ti (95W) variant of the Legion 5. Despite having a plastic build, there is not much to complain about the design as it feels solid and robust. Since Lenovo has kept things subtle, it can even blend in an office setting, too.

It has a 15.6-inch IPS LCD screen with a 165Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB coverage, and up to 300 nits of brightness. It has all the ports you need and is also Wi-Fi 6-compatible. All this is powered by a 60-Wh battery.
