With the rollout of Android 15, Google is introducing a new feature called “Identity Check” which allows for the user to mark a designated zone and disable features outside that zone. This is meant as a deterrent to thefts and scams and is already available for Pixel devices with more smartphones adopting it soon. So, let’s get to know ‘Identity Check’, shall we?
Google’s Identity Check feature
The Identity Check is part of Google’s “Theft Protection” feature, which is designed to safeguard sensitive information on Android devices. This feature was announced last week and is now becoming widely available on Pixel devices running Android 15.
Woking of Identity Check Feature
The core function of Identity Check is to enable users to decide trusted locations on their devices. If the device is outside of these secure zones, users will be prompted to authenticate themselves biometrically before accessing certain settings and features. This added layer of security ensures that unauthorized individuals cannot easily make changes or access personal information.
