Google Pixel Tag arrives with 1-year battery and Precision Finding!

Google has officially introduced the Pixel Tag, its first-ever item tracker designed to help users keep track of everyday belongings such as keys, wallets, and luggage. The compact tracker uses Google’s Find Hub network and brings features like Precision Finding, a replaceable battery, and IP67 water and dust resistance. In this article, I will discuss this tag in detail, including the expected Google Pixel Tag price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

Google Pixel Tag Overview

Design and Build

Starting off with the design, the Google Pixel Tag comes in a compact and lightweight form that makes it easy to attach to everyday belongings. It features a durable stainless-steel construction designed to withstand regular use. Moreover, its IP67 rating protects it against dust and water, making it suitable for items such as keys, bags, wallets, and luggage.

In terms of build, the tracker also features a built-in speaker that can play a sound when you are trying to locate a nearby item. The physical button on the tag can also be pressed to make your connected phone ring, giving you a convenient way to find your phone.

Battery and Connectivity

Moving on to the battery, the Pixel Tag offers up to one year of battery life. Once the battery runs out, you can replace it yourself instead of replacing the entire tracker.

As for connectivity, the Pixel Tag pairs with compatible Android smartphones using Fast Pair for a simpler setup. It supports Android 9 or newer, while Precision Finding requires a compatible Android device with Ultra Wideband support. 

Tracking and Precision Finding

When it comes to tracking, the Pixel Tag works with Google’s Find Hub network to help users locate their belongings. Through the Find Hub app, you can check the tag’s location on a map and play a sound when the item is nearby.

Meanwhile, compatible devices can use Ultra-Wideband and Bluetooth Channel Sounding for Precision Finding. This provides visual distance and directional guidance, making it easier to pinpoint the exact location of the tagged item. There is also a Left Behind alert that can notify you when you accidentally leave an item behind.

Beyond Bluetooth range, the Pixel Tag can take advantage of Google’s Find Hub network, which uses more than one billion Android devices to help locate lost items. Google says the location information is protected with end-to-end encryption.

Other Features

Additionally, Google allows users to share a Pixel Tag with up to 10 people. This could be particularly useful for shared luggage, household items, or belongings used by multiple family members.

On top of that, the Pixel Tag can be located using other Pixel devices, including the Pixel Watch. Pixel Buds users can also ask Gemini to ring the tag using voice commands. Google has included unknown-tag alerts as well, helping notify users if an unfamiliar tracker appears to be traveling with them.

Google Pixel Tag launched globally and is priced at USD 29 (~INR 2,999) for a single tag, while the four-pack costs USD 99 (~ INR 9,999). Google says the Pixel Tag will be available from November 11, 2026, through the Google Store. If this launches here, we expect the Google Pixel Tag price in Nepal to be NPR 5,999.
