Google Pixel Watch 5 lands with 3,000-nit display and up to 40-hour battery!

Google has officially launched the Pixel Watch 5, its latest smartwatch that focuses more on refining the Pixel Watch experience than bringing a major design overhaul. The new model retains much of the design and hardware approach of the Pixel Watch 4, while adding a slightly larger battery, more memory, and an upgraded Wear OS 7 software experience. In this article, I will discuss this watch in detail, including the expected Google Pixel Watch 5 price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

Design and Display

Starting off, the Pixel Watch 5 doesn't try to reinvent the design. It follows the same rounded and compact design language that has become a signature of the Pixel Watch lineup. This is actually a good approach for users who already like Google's distinctive smartwatch design, while the availability of both 41mm and 45mm sizes gives you more flexibility depending on your wrist size and preference. 

Additionally, the Pixel Watch 5 features a housing made from 100% recycled aluminium, giving it a lightweight construction without moving away from the premium look of the Pixel Watch series. Up front, the Pixel Watch 5 features an Actua 360 display protected by custom 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The 320ppi AMOLED LTPO panel supports DCI-P3 colour and a responsive 1–60Hz refresh rate, which should help balance smooth animations with power efficiency. The display reaches up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, making it particularly useful when checking notifications, maps, or workout information outdoors. At the other end, it can drop to just 1 nit with the always-on display, which should make nighttime viewing much more comfortable. 

That means the 45mm model is naturally the more practical choice if you prefer a larger viewing area and longer battery life, while the 41mm version makes more sense if you want something smaller and lighter on the wrist.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the Google Pixel Watch 5 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated platform alongside a Cortex-M55 co-processor. Google also provides 64GB of eMMC flash storage, giving you considerably more room for apps and other smartwatch content. 

Software-wise, the Pixel Watch 5 runs Wear OS 7.0. This is an important part of the overall experience because Google's smartwatch platform has matured considerably over the years. In terms of battery, this is one of the areas where the Pixel Watch 5 gets a practical upgrade. The 41mm model packs a 332mAh battery and is rated for up to 30 hours with the always-on display, while the larger 45mm model comes with a 465mAh battery and can last up to 40 hours with the always-on display. If you need to stretch the battery further, Battery Saver mode increases the claimed endurance to up to 48 hours on the 41mm model and up to 72 hours on the 45mm model. And with a quick 15-minute charge, Google claims this watch delivers up to 15 hours of performance. 

For connectivity, the LTE version supports 4G LTE and UMTS, along with Bluetooth 6.0, dual-band Wi-Fi on 2.4GHz and 5GHz, NFC, and Ultra-Wideband (UWB). The LTE connectivity is particularly useful if you want to leave your phone behind while still staying connected for supported smartwatch functions.

Apart from this, the watch also features a built-in microphone and speaker, along with touchless one-handed gestures, a side button, haptic crown, and Gen 3 premium haptics. For durability, both models feature 5ATM water resistance and an IP68 rating, making them well suited to everyday wear and workouts.
