Yesterday certainly was a big day of Huawei. After all, they launched the much-awaited P40 series today in an online-only event. Only the P40 and P40 Pro were expected to launch. However, in an interesting turn of events, a third phone was on display too. We’ve already covered the standard Huawei P40 in another separate article. This one is about the impressive Huawei P40 Pro, the show-stealer P40 Pro+, alongside their specs and expected price in Nepal.
Huawei P40 Pro, P40 Pro+ Overview
The Huawei P40 Pro is similar to its predecessor the P30 Pro. However, it comes with the new “Quad-curve Overflow Display“. Therefore, the device is slippery. Build-wise, the P40 Pro, similar to P40 has a glass-back, whereas the P40 Pro+ has a ceramic back. The ceramic rear of the P40 Pro+ makes it more scratch-resistant. Both the devices are IP68 rated and thus are water and dust resistant.
Huawei P40 Pro and P40 Pro+ have a much bigger screen than the standard model. They both feature a 6.58-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2640 x 1200 pixels. Unlike the P40, the refresh rate on both of them is 90Hz. This is great but falls some way short of its competing flagships that have 120Hz display, namely the Samsung Galaxy S20 series.
The phones are being marketed with the tagline “Visionary Photography“, and rightly so. The camera setup on both devices is simply outstanding. Let’s start with that of the P40 Pro. It comes with a 50MP primary lens, a 40MP ultra-wide lens, a 12MP telephoto lens (supports super-zoom) and a ToF sensor. The super-zoom support refers to 5x optical zoom, while it also supports 10x hybrid zoom and 50x max zoom.
Moving on, the P40 Pro+, one-ups the P40 Pro. It might have the same 50MP primary and 40MP ultra-wide lens, but its 8MP periscope lens offers 10x optical zoom. Moreover, it has another 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and a ToF sensor. Furthermore, its dual lenses allow for a 20x hybrid and 100x max zoom. Now, that’s sweet!
As for the front camera, it’s the same in all both devices. The 32MP selfie shooter is housed inside the pill-shaped cutout upfront. Unlike the standard P40, the Huawei P40 Pro & P40 Pro+ have ToF sensors too. Nepal, get ready for the master mobile photography!
Similarly, all the devices of the P40 family use the Kirin 990 5G chipset for functioning and have a standard 8GB RAM. However, the storage available in P40 Pro and P40 Pro+ is 256GB and 512GB respectively.
The batteries on these devices are of 4200mAh. And they support 40W Huawei SuperCharge. It’s a little different when it comes to wireless charging though. While the P40 Pro supports 27W Wireless Huawei SuperCharge, the Pro+ variant supports an unheard of 40W wireless charging!
