iQOO Pad Ultra arrives with a dedicated Q4 gaming chip and active cooling!

iQOO has officially launched the Pad Ultra as its latest high-performance tablet, along with the iQOO 16. The new tablet is powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset and has a dedicated Q4 gaming chip and an active cooling system with a large built-in fan, making it a strong contender as a dedicated gaming tablet. It also features an 8.8-inch AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate and a massive 9,020mAh battery. In this article, I will discuss everything about the iQOO Pad Ultra, including specifications, availability, and expected price in Nepal.

iQOO Pad Ultra Overview

Design and Display

Starting with the design, the iQOO Pad Ultra has a slim 5.74mm all-metal unibody and weighs 298g, making it fairly compact for a high-performance tablet. The rear panel has a gaming-inspired design with a light strip around the camera module, which adds a more distinctive look when holding the tablet horizontally. 

Here, the camera is also positioned toward the corner, keeping it away from where your fingers would normally rest when using the tablet in landscape orientation. This makes sense when playing games for longer durations. The tablet is available in Star Armor Silver and Shadow Black color options. 

Up front, the iQOO Pad Ultra features an 8.8-inch AMOLED display with a 2304 x 1440 pixel resolution for sharp text and images. It supports up to a 165Hz refresh rate, offering smooth scrolling and animation. Additionally, it supports up to a 500Hz multi-touch sampling rate, which can go up to a 5,000Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate, making touch controls feel more responsive.

The panel has a 2.65mm narrow bezel and a 93.3% screen-to-body ratio, giving you more screen area without making the tablet much larger. Furthermore, the screen can reach up to 1,600 nits of global brightness and 4,500 nits of local peak brightness. It also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and supports HDR10+ for a more vibrant and immersive viewing experience. 

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the iQOO Pad Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, built on a 2nm process. It is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, giving it plenty of headroom for demanding games and multitasking.

For gaming, iQOO has also included its self-developed Q4 gaming chip, which works alongside the Snapdragon processor to improve graphics performance. It supports features such as ray tracing, super-resolution, and frame interpolation, allowing compatible games to run at higher resolutions and frame rates. The tablet can also support 2K resolution at up to 165 FPS in supported games.

To keep temperatures in check, the tablet uses a five-layer active cooling system with a large built-in fan. The 30 x 30 x 3.5mm fan works with dual vapor chambers, a CPU copper block, and high-conductivity copper fins, providing a total cooling area of 23,253 mm². The fan also has three modes, including low-noise, smart, and high-speed modes.

On the software side, the iQOO Pad Ultra runs OriginOS 7 HD. It also brings the Monster Super Core Engine, which includes a custom scheduler, performance accelerator, power-efficiency controller, and Monster mode to manage performance during gaming. For controls, the tablet supports Q-flex touch technology, which works at the game-engine level to reduce touch latency and make multi-finger controls more responsive.

Gaming and Audio

Moving to the gaming features, the iQOO Pad Ultra comes with dual X-axis linear motors that provide 4D gaming vibration. The tablet can provide different vibration feedback during gameplay, making actions such as shooting and taking damage feel more noticeable.

It also features a high-sensitivity gyroscope with up to a 500Hz sampling rate, which can be useful for motion-based controls in compatible games. For visuals, the tablet supports ray tracing in supported titles, with iQOO specifically highlighting Neverness to Everness. This helps improve lighting, reflections, and other visual details during gameplay.

For audio, the iQOO Pad Ultra has a four-speaker setup with spatial audio support. This can make directional sounds such as footsteps and gunshots easier to distinguish, which is particularly useful in games where knowing an opponent's location matters, like PUBG or Call of Duty.

Another interesting addition is the 8K game camera, which can capture gameplay screenshots without the usual on-screen interface getting in the way. It also allows you to adjust things such as lighting and color while playing in supported games.

For optics, the iQOO Pad Ultra has a 13MP rear camera for basic photography and video recording. It supports up to 4K video recording, while the front houses an 8MP camera for selfies, video calls, and other day-to-day use.

iQOO Pad Ultra Price in Nepal and Availability

The iQOO Pad Ultra has been officially announced in China with a starting price of CNY 6,499 for the base 12/256GB variant. The 16/256GB model and 16/512GB variant are priced at CNY 7,199 and CNY 7,999, respectively. And the top-end 16GB/1TB version costs CNY 8,999.

As of now, there is no information regarding its global or local launch. However, if it is introduced here, you can expect the iQOO price in Nepal to be around NPR 148,799 for the base variant.
