We all remember how OnePlus messed up big-time with their first smartwatch. After much gossip about the successor to the original watch, it is finally here! In this article, we will discuss the OnePlus Watch 2 in further detail including its expected price in Nepal and availability.

OnePlus Watch 2 Overview

Design and Display

The OnePlus Watch 2 comes with a circular dial with a bump on the right side for controls. The watch crown rests on the upper end while a button sits at the lower end of the protrusion. Moreover, the watch has a rugged yet elegant look and comes with a chassis made of stainless steel. The second-generation OnePlus watch ships with fluororubber strap out of the box. However, you can swap the strap out for a leather or metal one to suit your style.

On the front, the OnePlus Watch 2 flaunts a 1.43” AMOLED screen with a default maximum brightness of 600 nits. It spans 466 x 466 pixels in resolution while having a pixel density of 326 PPI. Additionally, the screen features a 2.5D sapphire crystal cover plate and is capable of withstanding hardness of over 8 on the Mohs scale. The rest of the watch is rock solid as well with IP68 dust and water resistance, MIL-STD-810H military-grade testing certification, and an ability to withstand water pressure at 50 metres.

Performance and Features

Now, the performance side of things was where the OnePlus screwed up the last time. So, naturally, this very aspect was garnering a lot of attention with talks of Qualcomm chipset being used. Use they did. But they exceeded the expectation by incorporating dual processors i.e. Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 coupled with the BES2700BP. This allows the watch to run on both Wear OS 4 as well as RTOS maxing out both functionality and efficiency. Furthermore, it also has 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM along with additional 4GB eMMC storage for RTOS.

Talking of the functions on the watch, it offers a large amount of customisation with 20 custom OnePlus and an additional 80 downloadable watch faces. You get access to even more watch faces through third-party apps. You can also customise the tiles on your watch UI as per your liking. With the plethora of sensors on the OnePlus Watch 2, it offers all the health and fitness tracking goodies. The vitals and sleep monitoring are also available in addition to 100+ sports modes with automatic recognition for six of them and nuances tracking for 11 different sports.

Battery and Connectivity

In the tank, the OnePlus Watch 2 packs a 500 mAh battery which offers over 4 days of usage on Smart Mode. This mode makes full use of both the operating system of the watch to provide optimum battery life. However, if you are a heavy user you can still expect 48 hours of assistance from this watch. Meanwhile, using it in power saver mode takes the battery backup close to two weeks. When you do deplete the battery, the second-gen OnePlus Watch can juiced up in just an hour with fast charging. Moreover, 10 minutes of plugging in offers a day’s worth of use.

This watch also offers connectivity in multiple ways. Firstly, you get dual-band WiFi support to connect to the internet. It does not have eSIM support, but you can still receive and make calls through Bluetooth. The version of Bluetooth on here is 5.0 with low-energy mode as well. The OnePlus Watch 2 offers navigation through five different satellites with dual frequency support. You also get NFC support for making payments and additional functionality through OHealth app. Lastly, this watch is compatible with devices running on Android 8 or later only. This means that iPhone and Android Go users will have to look for some alternative smartwatches.
