Corning’s Gorilla Glass Ceramic “survived 10 repeated drops from one meter”

0

Corning unveiled Gorilla Glass Ceramic, and this guy can offer improved performance that it can even survive up to 10 repeated drops from a one-meter height onto an asphalt surface. Let’s get into the depth.

Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic

As per Corning, the Gorilla Glass Ceramic offers better durability and much more resistance to damage from impacts than the existing aluminosilicate glass. As I have mentioned previously, the company made a bold claim that Gorilla Glass Ceramic can survive up to 10 drops from one meter onto an asphalt surface. We can see this as a significant improvement compared to aluminosilicate, which typically breaks after just one drop.

But……

It’s important to note that the company conducted this test in controlled lab conditions, and we can’t be sure how it will perform in real-world situations. However, we can’t deny the fact that it is still an upgrade over existing options.

Availability and Rest

Gorilla Glass Ceramic is not only made for smartphones but also for cameras, smartwatches, and wearables. As for availability, Corning confirmed that the first smartphone to feature Gorilla Glass Ceramic will likely come from Motorola.

While we are not sure about the exact device, I think it’s a model from the Motorola 60 series which is launching soon. The release is expected in the coming months. This is part of a partnership Motorola announced back in February where they revealed that all of their upcoming devices would feature Gorilla Glass.

Dreame launched Miracle Pro that gives you salon-like experience right at home

0

Dreame, a Chinese company known for its smart home devices has launched its flagship hair dryer called the Miracle Pro. This hair dryer does more than just dry your hair by offering premium care for both your hair and scalp. How exactly? In this article, we will discuss it, including the specifications and expected price in Nepal.

Dreame Miracle Pro Overview

Build and Features

The Miracle Pro comes with nano red light therapy technology, which uses 633nm and 1064nm wavelengths. This system focuses on improving scalp health by boosting blood circulation, repairing the scalp barrier, and strengthening hair roots. Also, this red light has antibacterial properties that help you keep your scalp clean and balanced. I think this is a great quality because it not only dries your hair but also promotes healthy hair growth. That’s not something my regular dryer does.

Dreame Miracle Pro Features

This device also has a built-in essential oil atomizer. It uses a special ultra-high-frequency system that vibrates 175,000 times per second, breaking down hair care oils into tiny 7-micron particles. These super-fine particles are mixed with the airflow that gives your hair deep hydration and repair. This means you get a salon-like experience right at home.

Additional Features

To keep the heat under control, the Miracle Pro features NTC intelligent temperature control. It monitors the temperature 500 times per second, ensuring a consistent, scalp-friendly 40°C temperature. This helps protect your hair follicles from heat damage while still drying your hair efficiently. It’s definitely a thoughtful feature for those who worry about damaging their hair with excessive heat.

The dryer also produces 600 million negative ions. These ions help reduce frizz, making your hair smoother and shinier for a glossy finish. If you’re like me and hate frizzy hair, you’ll love this! The Miracle Pro also comes with Dreame’s self-developed 130,000 RPM high-speed motor, which provides strong and stable airflow for quick drying without sacrificing hair health. So, you get fast drying while keeping your hair in great condition.

Dreame Miracle Pro Specifications

  • Nano Red Light Therapy: Covers 633nm and 1064nm for improved scalp health
  • Built-in Essential Oil Atomizer: Vibrates 175,000 times per second to create 7-micron particles, offering deep hydration and repair
  • NTC Intelligent Temperature Control: Monitors temperature 500 times per second, maintaining a consistent 40°C to prevent heat damage
  • 600 Million Negative Ions:
    • Reduces frizz

Ultima Fusion 360 TWS review: Just okay, nothing extraordinary

Ultima is on the spree of launching back-to-back TWS in the Nepalese market. This homegrown brand is getting a pretty good response and we have a new TWS from Ultima. Which looks similar to the Mooondrop Space Travel. Dubbed the Fusion 360, it’s available at an introductory price of 2,499 rupees which begs the question, is it good for the price? Well, let’s find that out in our Ultima Fusion 360 review.

Ultima Fusion 360 Specifications

  • Design: In-ear fit
  • Drivers: 13mm Hi-Fidelity drivers
  • Protection: IPX5
  • Noise Canceling: Yes, 32 dB
  • Connections: Bluetooth 5.4
  • Battery Capacity: 400mAh, 3.7 (case), 30mAh (on each earbuds)
  • Charging Time: 1.5 hours
  • Color Options: Carbon Black
  • Price in Nepal: NPR 2,499 (Introductory Price, MRP is NPR 3,499)

Ultima Fusion 360 Review

Design

As usual, let’s address the design side first. I have already aforementioned, that the Ultima Fusion 360 looks like the Moondrop Space Travel. So, it has a translucent case with a metal alloy base, which adds some heft. But the earbuds are light itself. Ultima is also providing a pouch to keep the case safe from scratches. Likewise, the IPX5 protection is here for water resistance. So, it is safe against your workout swears or some splashes from the light rain. Ultima ships this guy in a sole shade: Carbon Black, which makes up a good aesthetic, I must say.

Ultima Fusion 360 Design

Audio

In terms of audio, the Ultima Fusion 360 has a 13mm High-fidelity driver. And as expected, this guy has a strong bass, excessive to sum up in amount. If you are bass head, it’s gonna impress you but I need to tell you, the vocals are clearly muffled. I wouldn’t call it bad but the clarity could have been much better. Overall, at the price of 2,599, I cannot complain much. The Soundcore K20i has a superior audio output in this price range but it’s semi-in-ear. So, it won’t fit every ear type while this one is an in-ear TWS. So, there’s that.Ultima Fusion 360 Feel

Likewise, the ANC of up to 32dB is just decent for the price. It can block outdoor noises to some extent. But the transparency mode is a bit terrible. The outdoor noise sounds disturbing in this mode. So, I prefer to listen in the normal mode most of the time. One thing I dearly miss is the app support. So, no customizations and tweaking!

Latency and Others

The Fusion 360 also features a 45ms low latency. I did some PUBG TDM sessions and the latency was okayish. It’s playable although a slight delay is of course noticeable. Overall, it’s not reliable for competitive gaming, wired earphones are still the way to go.

Ultima Fusion 360

Moreover, the battery life is said to last for over 40 hours when played at 60% volume, combined with the charging case. As with every other earbud in this range, it should easily last 5 to 6 hours on a single usage.

Ultima Fusion 360 Review: Conclusion

Okay, we have come to the conclusion part. Is the Ultima Fusion 360 the best TWS under 3000 in Nepal? It’s certainly not, despite having modern aesthetics, the audio part is not that impressive. If you are okay with suppressive bass, then it’s totally fine. Well, if it had an app support like the cheaper Boom 181, also from Ultima, its audio could have been made better through customizations. So, to sum it up, it’s just okay for the price with ANC support, but could have been better for sure.

HP Omen 16 and Omen 16 Max (2025) announced with RTX 50 graphics!

Well, well, well, since the first day of CES 2025, and all the new tech from a cute robot dog to giant OLED TVs excited the geeks in most of us. Myself being a bit of a laptop nerd found something else a little extra intriguing: a new HP gaming laptop that can reverse fan directions to blow out dirt from its vents. HP has finally released its Omen MAX gaming laptop in China today. Besides just that cool party trick, the HP Omen 16 Max also features an improved design, and powerful Intel and AMD chips, alongside NVIDIA’s next-gen graphics. Hence, let’s take a quick peek at the HP Omen 16 Max and its slightly toned-down vanilla sibling (HP Omen 16) alongside their features, detailed specifications, and availability.

HP Omen 16 and Omen 16 Max 2024 Overview

Design and Display

The 2024 edition of the Omen 16 lineup features a re-design look that seems cleaner and more minimal like their ‘Transcend’ laptops from last year. There’s an ‘OMEN’ logo on the lid alongside an ‘O16’ branding on the left side of its chassis. The ‘Max’ sibling has a subtle branding on the left and comes with a few other upgrades in terms of components and cooling.

HP Omen 16 2025 design white and black

And one of those upgrades is the display. While the vanilla Omen 16 goes to a very respectable 240Hz QHD+ IPS screen, the Max variant matches that with an OLED panel instead. That means deeper blacks, lower response times, and vibrant colors on top of all those crispy pixels and that super smooth refresh rate. Of course, lower-end variants with fewer pixels (WUXGA) and slightly slower speeds (144Hz and 165Hz) will also be available but we don’t have the exact details on configurations and pricing yet.

CPU and RTX 50 series GPU

The HP Omen 16 lineup houses both Intel and AMD chipsets that span several generations. On the Intel side, you can get Raptor Lake Refresh 14th gen chips, Intel Meteor Lake Core Ultra chips, and Intel Arrow Lake Core Ultra Series 2 ‘H’ chips while AMD options range from last gen 8000 series to the newer Ryzen AI Strix Point chipsets.

As for the graphics, you can kit up the Omen 16 with NVIDIA’s 40 and upcoming 50 series mobile GPUs. It will feature a variety of GPU options from the RTX 4060 to NVIDIA’s high-end ‘next-generation graphics’ (possibly the RTX 5080).

The Omen 16 Max takes this a step further by providing configurations with stronger CPU  options like the Core Ultra 9 275HX and Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 and exclusively RTX 50 graphics.

To keep it all cool while running, there’s an additional heatpipe over the CPU and GPU, alongside a re-designed chassis, a large vapor chamber, and a special ‘hybrid cryo compound’ on the Max model. And of course, the fans can reverse course to change the direction of airflow. They probably help a lot too. HP’s Omen AI software also automatically offers the best presets for optimal performance in games using machine learning. With all that, the HP Omen 16, and especially the Omen 16 Max will surely be complete beasts at gaming.

Extras

The gaming machine will be available in either ‘Ceramic White’ or ‘Shadow Black’ color options and weighs 2.45 kg with a thickness of less than 3 cm. The Max version is actually even slimmer and lighter but that extra cooling tech should help compensate fine! There are two Thunderbolt 4 ports on the left with an audio jack while the back houses a power barrel, an ethernet jack, an HDMI, and a Type-A port with another USB-A on the right. The keyboard features per-key RGB alongside an optional Light Bar at the front as well.

HP Omen 16 and 16 Max (2025) Specifications:

  • Dimensions and weight: 29.7mm thick, 2.45 kg
  • Display:
    • Omen 16: Up to 16.1″ WQXGA (2560×1600) IPS Panel, 240Hz

The HP Omen 16 will start from USD 1600 while the Omen 16 Max has a price tag of USD 1700. These premium gaming laptops will be available starting March 2025. When they make it here, we expect the HP Omen 16 (2025) lineup price in Nepal to start from NPR 300,000.

Take a sneak peak to the leaked specifications of Moto Edge 60 Pro

Motorola has recently re-entered the Nepali market, and I got the chance to review the Moto G45, which I would say is a good budget phone. That aside, the company now plans to launch the Moto 60 series soon. In this article, we’ll be talking about the rumors surrounding the Motorola Edge 60 Pro.

Moto Edge 60 Pro rumored overview

Similar to its younger sibling!

Popular leaker Evan Blass has shared the first promo video of what he believes to be the Motorola Edge 60 Pro. The phone looks very similar to its predecessor, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro, but with some new color options. Instead of the previous Black, Lavender, and Pearl colors the new model will come in Blue, Gray, and Purplish Pink.

Moto Edge 60 Pro Design

It’s also rumored to have a leather finish, continuing the premium feel to its design. On the right side of the phone, you’ll find the volume rocker and power button and on the left side, you can see a physical button. While the exact functionality of this left button is not clear at the point but sources suggest it might be used for Google’s Assistant or Gemini.

Let’s guess the rest

Moving on to the display, the Edge 60 Pro may feature an AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it will likely get the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 SoC with Android 15 OS running right out of the box. The phone is rumored to have 12GB of RAM, though we may get other storage options during the launch.

For connectivity, the Edge 60 Pro is likely to offer 5G, 4G, LTE, Bluetooth LE, and Wi-Fi support. It could also pack a large 5,100mAh battery supporting 68W fast charging.

Motorola Edge 60 Pro specifications (expected)

  • Design: Leather finish
  • Display: AMOLED, 144Hz refresh rate
  • Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 8350 SoC
