Huawei FreeBuds 5i Overview:

Here’s a summary of the Huawei FreeBuds 5i:

Design

To start with, Huawei’s latest FreeBuds 5i presents you with an in-ear design for fit. The buds are pretty similar to what we got in FreeBuds 4i a while back, a year before the newer version launched.

However, they managed to fit everything in shorter, lighter earbuds than the previous generation. And this time, Huawei hasn’t left out the IP rating. These pair of buds provide IP54 certification, so you don’t have to worry about dust and water ruining your device.

Likewise, even the case is fairly similar to what we got in the last one. The only difference is the loss of weight and the difference in color options. Color options such as Nebula Black and Isle Blue have frosted, pebble-like textures, while the older Ceramic White comes plain.

Sound

For the audio side of things, the FreeBuds 5i utilizes 10 mm dynamic drivers with its polymer composite diaphragm to deliver your music. Additionally, this uses Sony’s proprietary LDAC codec for Hi-Res Audio. There’s also a dedicated gaming mode, reducing your latency to ~94 ms.

Noise Canceling

Speaking of which, the device cancels the noise by up to 42 dB. Moreover, the FreeBuds 5i provides ANC modes such as Ultra, General, and Cozy to best fit the environment you are in. Also, the transparency mode helps you focus on your surroundings even with buds sitting on your ears.

Battery

Even though the buds themselves are shorter and lighter, the Huawei FreeBuds 5i packs a 55 mAh battery, similar to its predecessor. However, they last much shorter—about 6 hours with ANC and 7.5 without ANC. Nevertheless, the case bumps it to 18.5 hours of charge with ANC enabled and a whopping 28 hours with ANC disabled.

In addition to that, charging is also quick, with buds charging in around 1 hour. And the case alone charges in 10 minutes, less than 2 hours.

Rest of the specs

A pop-up pair that requires smartphones running EMUI 10 or higher is among the additional features on Freebuds 5i, along with support for Bluetooth 5.2, multi-connection with two devices, and these.
