RedMagic 12 Pro+ Overview
Design and Display
Starting with the design, the RedMagic 12 Pro+ retains the brand's transparent gaming-phone design, but ZTE has made a few changes to the overall look. The rear panel is now completely flat, with the dual-camera setup sitting flush against the back instead of protruding from it. RedMagic also says the phone is thinner, lighter, and narrower than its predecessor, with more rounded corners.

The transparent back also shows off the phone's cooling hardware. While internal RGB fans aren't new to RedMagic phones, the integrated RGB-lit liquid-cooling channels allow users to actually see the illuminated dual-ring circulation paths glow through the glass. For durability, it comes with an IP68 and IP69 rating against dust and water. It comes in three finishes: Transparent Dark Night, Transparent Silver Wing, and Transparent Ice Blue.

Moving on to the display, the RedMagic 12 Pro+ sports a 6.85-inch BOE X11 OLED panel with a resolution of 2,688 x 1,216 pixels, offering sharp text and visuals. It supports a 185Hz refresh rate, which allows for smoother motion in games that support high frame rates. The screen also uses an under-display selfie camera, eliminating the notch or punch-hole found on most phones and leaving more room for gameplay and videos.
Additionally, the display can reach a local peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits, which can help make bright areas of the screen more visible in challenging lighting conditions. For gaming, it also offers a 500Hz touch sampling rate and up to 5,000Hz instantaneous touch sampling, designed to register touch inputs quickly during fast-paced gameplay.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the RedMagic 12 Pro+ runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, paired with the RedCore R5 gaming chip and G1 display-control chip to handle demanding games while helping with gaming-specific tasks and display processing efficiently. The phone also supports LPDDR5T RAM and UFS 4.1 Pro storage, with configurations offering up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.
The phone also supports 2K super-resolution and frame interpolation in compatible games, which can make game graphics look sharper and gameplay appear smoother.

On the software side, the RedMagic 12 Pro+ runs RedMagic OS 12 based on Android 17. The system includes a dedicated gaming space that brings gaming tools and settings together, along with AI features for tasks such as writing, document handling, image editing, and translation. RedMagic has also introduced cross-platform file sharing with support for Apple devices, making it easier to transfer files between platforms.

Camera and Battery
For photography, the RedMagic 12 Pro+ features a dual rear camera setup comprising a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view. The main camera should help capture steadier shots, while the ultra-wide lens lets you fit more scenery or people into the frame. Up front, there's a 16MP under-display selfie camera, which keeps the screen free of a visible punch-hole while gaming or watching videos.

On the battery front, the RedMagic 12 Pro+ packs an 8,400mAh cell, which should provide plenty of capacity for extended gaming sessions. It supports 120W wired fast charging and 80W wireless charging, giving you two ways to top it up. The phone also supports bypass charging, allowing it to draw power directly from the charger while gaming. This can help reduce battery heat and wear during long sessions plugged into a power source.
