REDMAGIC Astra 2 announced for global market with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 185Hz OLED display!

REDMAGIC has officially announced the Astra 2 for the global market, rebranding the recently launched Gaming Tablet 5 Pro in China. With Astra 2, the company aims to reach mobile gamers and power users seeking a new compact tablet with flagship hardware, a smooth OLED display, and an advanced cooling system. In this article, I will talk about this new tablet in detail, including the expected REDMAGIC Astra 2 price in Nepal, specifications, and availability. 

REDMAGIC Astra 2 Overview

Design and Display

Starting off, the REDMAGIC Astra opts for a premium metal unibody chassis that incorporates the brand's signature transparent rear design, showcasing its internal cooling components with RGB lighting. Despite packing flagship hardware, the tablet maintains a compact form factor, measuring only 6.9mm in thickness, so you can comfortably hold it for extended hours while gaming or watching movies. 

On the front, it sports a large 9.06-inch LTPO OLED display with 2.4K resolution, keeping visuals sharp for a better viewing experience while playing high-graphics games. Along with that, the fast-paced games on this tablet should also run smoothly thanks to its 185Hz adaptive refresh rate.  

Besides that, Astra 2 can reach up to 1,600-nit peak brightness and supports 100% DCI-P3 color coverage and 10-bit color depth for vibrant HDR visuals on the screen. Beyond the processor, REDMAGIC also opts for the "ICE-X Liquid Cooling System" and pairs it with the “Liquid Metal 3.0”—a large vapor chamber with an active RGB cooling fan to efficiently dissipate the heat so that Astra 2 can deliver a stable and consistent frame rate even when playing the game for long hours. 

Memory-wise, it comes in up to 16GB of LPDDR5T RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 Pro internal storage to ensure its fast performance during multitasking and gaming. On the software side, Astra 2 runs on REDMAGIC OS, based on Android 16, which includes gaming-focused features such as Game Space, performance optimization, and charging bypass to reduce heat during gaming.

The official shipping of this tablet is set to begin on July 7, 2026, while the global launch is set for July 17, 2026. If this launches here, we expect the REDMAGIC Astra 2 price in Nepal to start at NPR 155,999.
