Samsung Galaxy Buds On Overview

Design and Fit

Starting with the design, the Samsung Galaxy Buds On uses a clip-on open-ear form factor that sits around the outer ear instead of going inside the ear canal. The earbuds use a flexible band that keeps the speaker and battery sections in place while leaving the ear canal open. This makes them quite different from Samsung’s usual in-ear Galaxy Buds. It is available in a single Black color option.

In terms of fit, the open-ear design means the earbuds do not put pressure inside your ears, while the flexible band helps keep them securely in place during movement. Samsung has also widened the contact area to distribute pressure more evenly, which should make the earbuds more comfortable for longer listening sessions. At the same time, the open design allows you to stay aware of your surroundings, making them useful for activities such as walking or running.

And like most other earbuds, you can tap the back of the Galaxy Buds On to control music playback and calls.

Audio and Call Quality

Moving on to audio, the Samsung Galaxy Buds On uses a TwinBoost speaker to improve the low-frequency response, which can be a challenge with open-ear earbuds. Samsung has also introduced Audio Leakage Reduction technology to minimize sound leakage, so you can listen to music in places such as cafes and libraries without disturbing people around you. There is also an automatic volume adjustment feature that changes the volume based on the surrounding environment.

For call quality, the Galaxy Buds On uses Samsung’s Intelligent Clear Call technology along with three microphones and a Voice Pickup Unit (VPU) sensor. These work with machine learning to separate your voice from background noise, helping keep calls clear even in noisy environments such as outdoors or near a vacuum cleaner.

Under the hood, the earbuds are powered by the Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform and use a Class-D amplifier for better power efficiency.

AI and Smart Features

On the smart features front, the Samsung Galaxy Buds On comes with several AI-powered functions aimed at making everyday use more convenient. One of them is Quick Voice Memo, which lets you start recording by long-pressing the touch area on the earbuds. You can use Bixby to search through the recorded content without having to take out your phone.

Likewise, the earbuds support head gestures, allowing you to nod or shake your head to answer or end calls. These gestures can also be used to dismiss alarms and read incoming message notifications, which can be useful when you do not want to reach for your phone.

The Galaxy Buds On also works with Samsung’s Galaxy AI features, including Interpreter, which can provide real-time translation through the earbuds when paired with a compatible Galaxy smartphone.

Battery and Charging

In terms of battery, the Samsung Galaxy Buds On offers up to 9.5 hours of music playback on a single charge. With the charging case, the total listening time extends further, making the earbuds suitable for longer listening sessions without needing to recharge them frequently.

The earbuds also support wireless charging, so you can charge the case using a compatible wireless charger or a Samsung Galaxy device with Wireless PowerShare. This gives you more flexibility when charging the earbuds on the go.
