Samsung Galaxy Tab S12+ Overview

Design and Display

Starting with the design, the Galaxy Tab S12+ keeps a slim and lightweight profile despite its large 12.6-inch display. It measures 5.3mm thick and weighs 553 grams for the Wi-Fi model, while the 5G version weighs 555 grams. The tablet also gets an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, which should make it easier to use in different environments. Here, you also have the option to choose between the “ Gray” and “Silver” finishes.

On the front, you get a 12.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 2,800 x 1,752 pixel resolution. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate, so scrolling through apps and browsing should feel smooth. This large AMOLED panel should also make the Tab S12+ suitable for watching movies and other content with deeper blacks and punchier colors.

Additionally, the panel reaches up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness and 1,000 nits in High Brightness Mode, which should offer quite decent outdoor visibility even when using it under bright sunlight. Samsung’s Vision Booster can also adjust the brightness based on the surrounding light, which should help when you are using the tablet outdoors.

Apart from this, the S Pen also comes in the box. You can use it for writing notes, sketching, and making quick edits on the large display. However, the S Pen does not support BLE, so Bluetooth-based features are not available here.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the Galaxy Tab S12+ is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset. It is a flagship-grade 3nm chip built for demanding workloads, so it should be able to handle everything from everyday multitasking to heavier gaming and creative apps. You also get a new 3D vapor chamber for better heat management during longer and more demanding sessions.

Memory-wise, the Tab S12+ comes with 12GB RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. There is also a microSD card slot with support for up to 2TB of additional storage. On the software front, the tablet runs Android 17 with Samsung’s One UI 9. Samsung has also brought Galaxy AI features to the Tab S12+ along with several productivity tools. The company is also promising 7 major OS upgrades and 7 years of security patches.

Battery and Camera

Moving on to the battery, the Galaxy Tab S12+ packs a large 10,600mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging. The large capacity should be enough for long sessions of watching videos, browsing the web, or working on documents without having to reach for the charger frequently. However, the actual battery life will still depend on factors like brightness, refresh rate, and the type of apps you use.

For the camera, the Tab S12+ gets a single 13MP camera on the back. It should be enough for basic photos, scanning documents, and recording videos when you need to use a tablet for these tasks. On the front, there is a 12MP ultrawide camera, which should be more useful for video calls, as its wider field of view can fit more people into the frame.

Besides, the tablet also gets four-channel spatial audio through its quad-speaker setup, which should make watching videos and listening to music more immersive.
