For years, Vivo phones have had two different forks of Android. There was Funtouch OS for the global market, while Vivo phones in China ran on OriginOS instead. Which is arguably the better designed of the two. And now, Vivo has officially confirmed that it is replacing Funtouch OS with OriginOS 6 for Vivo and iQOO phones globally.
Vivo OriginOS 6 to make its global debut
A couple of days ago, Vivo’s CTO Shi Yujian officially confirmed that the company is bringing OriginOS to the global market. Whereas the official X (Twitter) handle of Funtouch OS India recently changed its username to OriginOS as well.
A China-first debut
In China, OriginOS 6 (based on Android 16) will make its debut alongside the Vivo X300 series. Now we’re not sure if the global rollout of OriginOS 6 will be the exact copy of its Chinese version + Google Mobile Services. In any case, we can expect a fresh look and a lot more customization options with OriginOS 6 compared to Funtouch OS.
Vivo has also stated that they have reworked the core system with emphasis on optimization. Similarly, it is expected to come with new AI features like we have seen in the just-released Xiaomi HyperOS 3.

Transparent interface
Other than that, Vivo is clearly taking some inspiration from Apple’s iOS 26 with transparent aesthetics this time. For that, they have used “three-layer shading technology,” enhancing the real-time blur and brightening the colors even more.
Whereas OriginOS 6 will also bring more customization options for the lock screen, alongside a redesigned control center, and smoother animations across the system.
Vivo OriginOS 6 global launch and eligible devices
Vivo will first introduce OriginOS 6 in China on October 10, followed by the global launch on October 15. And we also have the first batch of phones that are scheduled to receive this update. This includes Vivo X Fold5, X200, X200s, X200 Pro, X200 Pro Mini, and X200 Ultra.
While iQOO phones like the iQOO 13, Neo 10, Neo 10 Pro, and Neo 10 Pro+ will also receive OriginOS 6 update. We expect the complete list of all Vivo and iQOO phones that will receive the OriginOS 6 update to arrive shortly.
