Vivo X200 Pro Review
Camera
Last time’s Vivo X100 Pro shocked me with its great Portraits, and I absolutely fell in love with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s 3X floating camera. The macro photos.. The Leica black and white portraits. They were stunning! And this thing (show X200 Pro) here shows that the gap is going to get even narrower!
I have been using the Vivo X200 Pro alongside my daily driver the iPhone 16 Pro Max for about a week now, and one thing I can tell right away is, that the X200 Pro is miles ahead when it comes to portraits.
Vivo has gone with a fresh 200MP 3.7X periscope zoom lens this time, Versus the 5X lens we usually see from Apple, Samsung and even Pixel.
The 3.7X aka 85mm is a perfect focal length to click portraits since you don’t have to go too far away and since the sensor is 200 Mega Pixel and not 48 or 50MP as you get on iPhone, you can click 135mm portraits too without compromising on the details, which I think is a genius move from Vivo and gives me a lot of flexibility.
Along with that, Vivo’s collaboration with Zeiss all these years, is now now truly starting to shine! I have clicked over 100 portraits from the X200 Pro and they look stunning with precise edge detection and blur levels.
The bokeh it’s able to capture is easily the best I have seen on a smartphone. The skin tone is slightly processed and brightened yes, and they might not look the most natural, but it is social media ready, and I don’t have to edit in post.
So, overall, if you love clicking portraits. Indoors, outdoors, and especially in the streets, this phone truly raises the bar when it comes to mobile photography 100%.
I also liked all the different bokeh flares that Vivo provides in the camera app and different modes like these black and white portraits – which again come out fabulous.
Photos from the main 50MP camera of the X200 Pro are also hard not to like. It has plenty of details and excellent dynamic range even in the most challenging condition like this! The white balance is consistent almost all the time and I like how it has a bit of a pop in colors even in the default natural mode. Even during low light, you will find plenty of details and nice exposure handling.
The 3rd lens is an ultra-wide angle camera, which unfortunately remains unchanged from last year. So, it’s slightly behind the likes of Pixel and iPhone. The Field of View is narrower and it’s not as bright or sharp as the main lens.
Anyway, Vivo has upgraded the videography aspect from last year. You can shoot 4K 60fps from all the cameras, including the selfie cam which is missing on the X100 Pro. The footages I got were all nice and clean with good colors as with the photos, although it’s nowhere near as stable as the iPhone. You will notice a slight wobbliness in the 4K 60fps footage, and the ultra-wide videos, in particular, are quite average considering this is a flagship phone!
So I definitely want to see Chinese makers come up with more improvements in terms of videos.. Maybe using a sensor shift technology like an iPhone or a software trick would help videos get better in the future generation. But right now, the iPhone and even Samsung are slightly ahead.
The portrait videos I took show that against the 16 Pro Max! It just cannot process the blur and edge detection that well. Likewise, you can click 4K 120fps videos from the X200 Pro like the iPhone 16 Pro Max, but I cannot change the speed in post to create slo-mo videos, which is flawless in 16 Pro Max.
Ok, I think I have talked enough about its camera, but I think other aspects of the VIVO X200 Pro are equally nice. First of all, although the designs haven’t changed by a lot, but. we get this modern-looking flat design just like on iPhone and Samsung.
Design
And instead of the curved sides, we now get a display with a subtle rounding towards all four edges.
Vivo has also included an official IP68 as well as IPX9 which means, it can stand full submersion as well as high-temperature water jets – which is a much better ingress protection than the competition.
And there’s a big 6000mAh Si-Ca battery here unlike the traditional graphite-based technology still being used by Apple and Samsung. This means, despite using such a big battery, the weight of this phone hasn’t increased that much from last year. It still feels solid in the hand, but I have to admit – I am not a big fan of such camera modules.
Display
Ok, jokes aside, the display on the Vivo X200 Pro has improved too. In fact, all the Chinese smartphone makers these days are opting for BOE panels and they are doing quite well in China.
Here, the X200 Pro has everything you want for the best display experience. An LTPO Panel, 120Hz refresh rate, 2160Hz PWM dimming, Dolby Vision + HDR 10 playback on OTT platforms. And BTW, you can click videos from it in Dolby Vision 10bit Log format and edit in post.
can get quite bright too. It can reach 2000 nits in auto-brightness mode outdoors, which is quite close to the 2400 nits of the 16 Pro Max.
We also have an ultra-sonic fingerprint sensor! Seems like the entire BBK group – the IQOO, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, and VIVO have now shifted to a more advanced ultrasonic sensor. This means the fingerprint sensor is now located at a perfect location, and it can unlock when my hands are wet! So, this is a welcome addition.
Performance
The Vivo X200 Pro is also one of the few phones to be powered by MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity chipset, and I suggest you watch my comparison video I posted a week ago against the SD 8 Elite and the Apple A18 Pro! I know you might be skeptical about a MediaTek chipset that too on a flagship phone,! But over the years, MediaTek processors are as good as the ones from Qualcomm and Apple. The difference is quite minimal.
And in the case of X200 Pro, everything just feels so smooth. You can play most AAA games in a smooth 120fps with excellent stability and even games like Genshin run run well here without any hiccups or overheating at the highest of graphics settings.
UI and OS
It boots up on Android 15, and this new version of Funtouch OS has much better icons, animations, and transitions which makes app opening, and multitasking super fast and intuitive. I also like the vibration feedback here. It’s tight and precise, but the only complaint I have is in the speaker department. It’s just not as good as the iPhone and Samsung.
Battery Life
But what’s better here is the battery life and charging speed. As I mentioned earlier, you get a 6000mAh Si-Ca battery and coupled that with an LTPO display that refreshes from 1Hz to 120Hz depending upon the content, and a 4nm chip, I am easily getting like 6 hours of SOT on heavy usage and even more than 10 hours on light usage. You also get a 90W brick inside the box which fills the phone from 0 to 75% in about 32 minutes and a complete refill in 45 mins.

Vivo X200 Pro Review: Conclusion
Ok, conclusion time, and after using the Vivo X200 Pro for a week with my primary SIM and all my social media accounts synced, I honestly never felt the need to use my iPhone 16 Pro, except for taking portrait videos for my Instagram reels and stories! So, this goes on to show how mature Chinese phones have become!
