Vivo just launched a new smartphone named Y100 5G — not to be mistaken with the Vivo Y100 or the Vivo Y100 5G that hit the market a little while ago. There is also the Vivo Y100i, by the way. (What are you doing, Vivo?) Anyhoo, this article will strictly discuss the new Vivo Y100 5G (2024) in detail including its price in Nepal.
Vivo Y100 5G (2024) Overview:
Design and Display
The new Vivo Y100 comes in two colourways and two finishes. The first of which is in “Purple Orchid” colour with leather finish. Meanwhile, the other one is a “Black Onyx” finish that comes in a gritty texture with kite-shaped patterns on the back. Other than that, the phone has the same design blueprint with a large rounded-rectangular camera island housing three camera cutouts and an LED flash. Both the variants boast an IP54 water and dust resistance.
On the front, we are getting an AMOLED panel that measures 6.67-inch diagonally serving as the face of the phone. This screen comes in an FHD+ resolution spanning 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. Additionally, it also has a pixel density of 394 PPI while offering a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. Other than that, it offers a 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut and a colour saturation of 1.07 billion colours.
Performance
On the performance side, the Vivo Y100 5G taps into Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset for its processing prowess. It is a 4nm silicone that has eight cores and peaks at 2.20 GHz clock speed.
It is further assisted by an 8GB LPDDR4x RAM for the memory. In terms of storage, you get two options, either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 ROM. Other than that, you can virtually extend the phone memory by an additional 8GB. Similarly, you can also expand the storage up to 1TB via a MicroSD card. On the software side of things, the Vivo Y100 5G ships with Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14.
Talking of the optics, the Vivo Y100 5G comes with four cameras altogether. On the rear, we have three shooters comprising a 50MP primary lens, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a Flicker Sensor. In the meantime, an eight-megapixel shooter sits on the front underneath the centre-aligned hole-punch cutout.
Fuelling the entire system is a 5,000 mAh lithium battery that comes with four years of battery protection. Meanwhile, it is capable of accepting 80W of FlashCharge. Regarding wireless connectivity, we are getting Dual SIM Dual Standby, 5G cellular, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and five-way navigation support. Furthermore, we have to make do with a single USB 2.0 Type-C port for a wired connection. Lastly, it features an in-display fingerprint sensor for added security.
