Vivo has introduced the Vivo Y21 5G variant in Nepal, expanding its Y series. The new 5G model features a huge 6500mAh battery, MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, and a large screen, though it also comes with a noticeable downgrade in the front. So, in this article, I will discuss everything you need to know about the Vivo Y21 5G, including its specs, features, availability, and official price in Nepal.
Vivo Y21 5G overview:
Design and Display
To begin with the design, unlike how the Vivo Y21 5G shares the name with the old 4G variant, the 5G model is significantly different. The new phone features a glass front, a metal-matte frame, and a composite plastic back design to resist fingerprints. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security and measures 8.39mm thick and weighs 209g, making it larger and heavier than its predecessor, thanks to the massive battery.
Additionally, it features an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, SGS 5-star drop resistance, and military-grade durability certification, making it ideal for wet or rough environments. The phone is available in Sunrise Gold and Voyage Black color options.

Moving on to the display, the Vivo Y21 5G features a 6.74-inch IPS panel with 1600 x 720 pixel resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate to offer snappy switching between apps and a smooth scrolling experience. It delivers 83% NTSC color coverage for vibrant visuals and a high-brightness mode of up to 1200 nits, meaning the display is good for outdoor use.
Camera and Battery
Like I said above, the Vivo Y21 5G comes with an unexpected downgrade in the camera department. Talking about the rear camera, the new 5G model now features a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 0.08MP depth sensor, compared to a 13MP main and a 2MP macro lens found on the 4G model. Over the front, you get a 5MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture, downgrading from an 8MP lens, which really doesn’t make sense.

At least in terms of battery, you get an upgrade. The Vivo Y21 5G now packs a massive 6500mAh Li-ion battery paired with 44W fast charging, offering you long-lasting all-day use. It also supports reverse charging.

Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Vivo Y21 is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 6300, which is manufactured on a 6nm node to offer more efficient and better performance, compared to the Hilos P35 chip in the 4G model. It is configured with expandable 6GB RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage.

On the software side, the phone runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 to offer a more optimized interface. It also comes with AI features like AI creation, AI photo enhancement, AI screen translation, and “Circle to Search”. You can expect 2 years of major updates and 4 years of security updates, making it great for longer use.
