Alongside the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, SU7 Ultra, and the RedmiBook Pro 16, Xiaomi also lifted the curtains on a brand new pair of earbuds. The Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro is the successor to the Buds 4 Pro but brings in a couple of surprises like a triple driver setup and distinct Bluetooth and WiFi versions! Here we'll take a quick glimpse at the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro alongside its features, and specifications, with expected price in Nepal and availability details.
Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro Overview
Triple Drivers for the Win
The Buds 5 Pro are the first consumer TWS earbuds to feature a 'dual amplifier triple driver' setup. They use a coaxial triple driver configuration with an 11mm dynamic driver and a 10mm ceramic tweeter. This setup enables a wider frequency range, from 15Hz to 50,000Hz, delivering deep bass, clear mids, and sparkling highs. The dual-amplifier system complements this design by providing dedicated power to each driver as needed, optimizing performance across frequencies.
Bunch of Features
These buds ship with tons of audio features, but let's start things off with Xiaomi's spatial audio with dynamic head tracking and personalized audio. These provide immersive listening experience by tailoring spatial audio to your needs based on your ear structure. Cool. The buds are also tuned to the Harman Curve with a 'Harman Master' sound profile to provide the most appealing audio experience.
There's also AI - of course - that's able to translate speech to text real time with a 98.7% accuracy. Besides that, there is face-to-face translation and simultaneous interpretation that enables conversation between individuals speaking different languages.
The Buds 5 Pro features 55dB Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) covering a 5kHz range. For calls, the 3 mic setup uses AI noise reduction, supposedly eliminating up to 100dB of background noise.
Design and Battery Life
The Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro look like your typical pair of in-ear silicon buds but with a slight premium touch. The buds feature a glossy accent on their stem with cut outs for microphones and a flattened side for touch controls. The Case features a dual tone design with a glossy top and a matte bottom housing a small LED indicator for charging and pairing! The Bluetooth variant is only available in Black colorway while the WiFi version gets White and Gold options.
The case houses a 570 mAh battery offering up to 40 hours of playback on the total. The buds themselves either sport a smaller 53mAh or 64mAh cell depending on the variant. Xiaomi says you can expect up to 8 hours of battery life on the standard model while the WiFi unit will last 10 hours.
Connectivity and Extras
Xiaomi's Buds 5 Pro support Qualcomm's 'aptX Lossless' audio for 24-bit high res audio transmission at up to 2.1 Mbps via Bluetooth. The WiFi edition pulls ahead here supporting audio transmission at a whopping 4.2Mbps over WiFi. Pair that with the latest Xiaomi 15 Ultra (or other compatible devices) and you can get studio grade lossless audio wirelessly!
The Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro are official in China with a price tag of CNY 1,300 for the Bluetooth variant while the WiFi model costs CNY 200 extra. When it eventually makes it here, we expect the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro price in Nepal to be around NPR 34,999!
