Nothing Phone (3)

4.5Expert Score

Nothing Phone (3) is the successor to Phone (2). Characterized mainly by its unique transparent design, Phone (1) was easily the most hyped phone of 2023. Now, the company has launched its successor after 2 whole years, which now features a new Glyph Matrix, IP68 rating, sharper 120Hz AMOLED display, triple 50MP cameras with periscope zoom, and a 5150mAh battery. It runs on Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, which feels underwhelming for its expected price.

Nothing Phone (3): Overview

Here’s a brief description of the design aesthetic, chipset, and camera of the Nothing Phone (3)

Design and Display

he Nothing Phone (3) brings several upgrades across design, display, and usability. It now features a glass back, aluminum frame, and an improved IP68 rating for full dust and water resistance, a step up from the previous IP54. One of the standout changes is the updated Glyph Matrix — a smaller, monochrome version of the signature LED interface, now composed of 489 LEDs. There’s also added support for eSIM alongside a physical nano-SIM, with any two usable at once.

The display is a 6.67-inch flat AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and a bumped-up resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels, offering around 460ppi. It supports HDR content and improves overall sharpness and color fidelity. On the inside, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, built on a 4nm process and paired with the Adreno 825 GPU. It runs on Android 15 with Nothing OS 3.5 on top, and Nothing promises five major Android updates. While this all sounds solid on paper, the choice of processor feels mismatched for the price, especially when competitors offer higher-end chipsets in the same range.

Camera and Rest

Camera hardware has seen a major leap, with a triple 50MP setup on the back: a wide sensor (OV50H) with OIS, a periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical and 60x digital zoom, and an ultrawide lens with EIS and HDR. The front camera is now a 50MP shooter capable of 4K at 60fps. Battery capacity has increased to 5150mAh, supporting 65W wired, 15W wireless, 7.5W reverse wired, and 5W reverse wireless charging. However, no charger is included in the box—just a 5A USB-C cable. Connectivity includes dual 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, dual-band GPS (L1+L5), NavIC, and all major global navigation systems. There’s an under-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, and all essential sensors, but like last year, it omits the headphone jack. In the box, you get the phone (with a pre-applied screen protector), a protective case, SIM ejector, USB-C cable, and manuals.
