Alienware has made a breakthrough in the gaming laptop industry with the introduction of 480Hz panels. This screen is featured in two of its latest laptops: m17 R5 and x17 R2. Industry's first 480Hz screen
As aforementioned, the main highlight of the Alienware m17 R5 and x17 R2 is the new 480Hz screen. It is an FHD (1920 x 1080) panel with a 3mn response rate. The screen also comes with AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-SYNC. Furthermore, it even has Dolby Vision certification for users to enjoy HDR contents.

What really sets the Alienware m17 R2 apart from the x17 R2 is the CPU and GPU choices that it offers. You can pair the m17 R2 with either Ryzen 7 6800H or Ryzen 9 6900HX CPU.

In contrast, x17 R2 doesn't have any AMD options. You will have to choose between the 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12700H and i9-12900HK. The GPU options on this one range from RTX 3060 and RTX 3080 Ti.
Talking about memory configurations, both m17 R5, and x17 R2 cap out at 64GB of dual-channel DDR5 RAM and 4TB of NVMe SSD.
