Apple MacBook Pro (M2) Overview:
All-new M2
This year’s 13-inch MacBook Pro succeeds its predecessor primarily in terms of performance. It is powered by the new M2 chip which is an octa-core processor (with 4-high performance cores and 4-high efficiency cores) built upon the company’s 2nd gen 5nm process. Similarly, the new silicon has 20 billion transistors, which is 25% more than the M1 and a 10-core GPU as opposed to the M1’s 8-core.
This improves M2 above M1 on every front. Per Apple, it boosts the CPU performance by 18% and improves the GPU and Neural Engine by 35% and 40%, respectively. Not to forget, M2 also offers 50% greater memory bandwidth than M1 and up to 24GB of unified memory.
With such sheer power onboard, Apple claims that the M2 outperforms the 10-core Intel Core i7-1255U CPU combined with 16GB of memory by 1.9X. Similarly, its media engine now supports up to 8K H.264, HEVC, ProRes encode/decode, and has ‘increased bandwidth’ to playback multiple 4K and 8K streams more efficiently.

Design and Display
Even though the new MacBook Pro has a powerful chip inside, its design and other hardware features are identical to the previous model. This means you’re still getting a 13.3-inch Retina IPS display with a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution. As expected, the screen also supports True Tone and the P3 color gamut.
Moreover, the M2-based MacBook Pro also retains the Touch Bar on the top of the keyboard, making it the only Mac in Apple’s current lineup to have this feature.

Aside from that, the connectivity option remains unchanged as well with a pair of USB 4 / Thunderbolt 3 ports, a headphone jack, WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5.0. Furthermore, if in case you want to connect your MacBook to an external display, it only supports a single display with up to a 6K resolution at a 60Hz refresh rate.
