What comes to your mind when you think of a powerful gaming laptop? A bulky, mean-looking machine? How about a 3.5-pound machine packing in 8 cores, 16 threads and boosted speed up to 4.4GHz? I’m talking about the new Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 which is now officially available in Nepal.
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 Overview
Design and Display
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is an ultra-slim gaming laptop from ASUS. It comes with a 14-inch display with FHD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). The display supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. There is also a WQHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) variant that only comes with the regular 60Hz refresh rate. The whole setup is closed inside a magnesium alloy body that is available in two color options – Eclipse Gray or Pearlescent Moonlight White. The Dot Matrix display called “AniMe Matrix” covers a major portion of the hood of the laptop, which is very aesthetically pleasing. Asus claims that the surface is resistant to your fingerprints. At just 1.6 kg (1.7kg with the cover), it is among the thinnest and the slimmest laptop under the Asus ROG Zephyrus series.
Performance
The device is powered by AMD’s Ryzen 9 4900HS which comes with 8 cores and 16 threads. There is also a variant that comes with Ryzen 7 4800HS or Ryzen 5 4600HS. The device is based on Ryzen’s cutting-edge 7nm process. AMD is now popular than ever thanks to its Ryzen 4000 series of chipset which is giving Intel a run for the money. It is complemented by NVIDIA’s RTX 2060 Max-Q or GTX 1660 Ti or the GTX1650. The processor coupled with this GPU can handle even the most demanding games of today such as Red Dead Redemption II. It comes with up to 32GB of DDR4 SDRAM and 1TB of NVMe PCIe SSD storage. This laptop is a delight for gamers and content creators alike.
Battery and Connectivity
As far as the connectivity goes, you get 2x USB-C port, 2x USB-A port, an HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a Kensington lock. As the device is powered by a Ryzen chipset, it doesn’t support Thunderbolt 3 connectivity. However, there is no webcam if you are looking for one with it. It comes with a four-celled 76WHr battery and the company claims about 10 hours of battery life on this one which is great for a gaming machine. Asus has included a 180W power adapter that can charge the device. Alternatively, you can also charge the device through Type-C port (65W).
