Do you remember the Google Pixel 8? The phone that promised 7 years of OS updates? Yes. CAD-based renders of a successor to that phone are already making rounds on the internet! It’s hardly been a quarter since the Google Pixel 8 was launched. But, hey! We’re not complaining at all! Matter of fact, let’s take a look at the Google Pixel 9 and all the rumours related to it!

Google Pixel 9 Rumours Roundup

Well, it’s… Flat!

The leaked renders of the Google Pixel 9 show the phone in well… flat frames. It’s been a few years since iPhones reverted to flat frames, and it appears now the entire smartphone industry is following suit. Samsung made both its Galaxy S24 flat this time around, and even the Ultra variant was much more boxier than before. Looks like the bland flat design will be the standard in the coming years. Thanks, Apple!

It is unclear what the material of choice here is, however, we can expect Pixel phones to feature Titanium sooner rather than later. Other than that, this phone reportedly measures 152.80 x 71.90 x 8.50 mm in dimension. Meanwhile, on the front, it is expected to sport a 6.1-inch screen panel with symmetrical bezels going around it.

An Extra Camera!?

It appears that Google is updating the design of the Pixel phones in more than one way. They had that iconic camera island on the back that kind of resembled the eyewear of Marvel Comics’ Cyclops. Well, looks like we will have to bid goodbye to that Pixel camera island.

A more pill-shaped camera island will be replacing the camera island that also houses an extra camera! Google had reserved a triple camera setup for its “Pro” offerings till now. I guess, not anymore! The base Google Pixel 9 phones will finally rock three cameras on the back. Now will it be a telephoto lens? Or will Google cheap out with a useless Macro lens of sorts? Only time will tell.

Google Pixel 9 Expected Launch and Availability

As it stands, we only have the initial look through the leaked renders and do not have any tea on the hardware side of things. But, we don’t need to rush though, since the Google Pixel 9 will only launch around October 2024. I am sure we will have a lot more leaks and rumours by then. Until them, adios amigos!
