A new AI laptop from Google is coming soon—but can it outperform today's top device?

Google has officially teased its upcoming Googlebook, which is said to be the successor to the Chromebook and Pixelbook. With this new lineup, Google is combining its two OS into a single unit and positioning it in the premium midrange laptop category. Here, Google is also partnering with popular laptop brands such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo for the future Googlebook device. While many details are still under wraps, we might see more changes in its specs when it actually launches. But for now, I will discuss Googlebook in detail, including the expected Googlebook price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.
Googlebook Overview
AI-integrated Performance
Google is reportedly exploring a shift from ChromeOS to a new Android 17-based platform internally referred to as "Aluminum OS", which is designed to create a unified ecosystem for your phone and laptop. This means users might run their favorite phone apps and a full desktop web browser with better multitasking optimization. With this, users might also get quick access to browse their phone's files directly from the laptop's file manager.

Furthermore, this laptop comes with Gemini Intelligence, which can assist you with writing, creating images, and managing productivity and AI-assisted workflows in the background. We saw that traditional Chromebooks have primarily focused on students seeking lightweight devices. But with this new Googlebook, it appears to target users looking for an AI-focused productivity laptop experience.
Design and Display
Moving on from the budget-friendly laptop build, Google is all set to give this new Googlebook a premium feel with the lightweight design. Here, it is expected to feature an all-metal build, including the aluminum we saw on Apple laptops. On top of the lid, you also get the “Glowbar,” which Google claims gives smart alerts and battery checks without actually opening the laptop.

Interestingly, Google is also collaborating with top laptop companies such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo to help them develop their own versions of the Googlebook. And this laptop is all set to feature a dedicated “G-key” for direct access to Gemini.
For display, they said the new AI and creative tool in Android 17 will make on-screen visuals more vibrant and sharper. But the actual details of the display have not yet been officially revealed by Google.

Magic Pointer
Another highlight of this Googlebook is the interaction with the mouse. Here, Google collaborated with DeepMind to build the feature called “Magic Pointer”. This means if you point your cursor to the date in the email, the Gemini automatically pops up to create the calendar event. Also, if you click two images on the screen, they can be merged together.

Moreover, it also has a prompt-based widget maker, which means you can get a customized widget from the Google app or web with the help of Gemini. In short Googlebook might come across a suitable laptop for the student, researcher, and productivity-focused user who looks for a device that works smoothly with AI.
However, Google has not yet revealed details on hardware specs, benchmark numbers, or battery performance. So, you need to wait a bit longer to know every bit of detail of this laptop. And all these details are based solely on the conceptual representation of the Googlebook, so we may see many improvements when it officially launches.
Googlebook Price in Nepal and Availability
Googlebook is still in the “Get notified” phase and all set to launch by fall 2026. So, we need to wait for its official launch to see the detailed pricing and full specifications. But according to the rumors, this new laptop might cost a bit more than the MacBook Neo (Review).
