Honor made waves with its foldable phones as the company managed to pack in some serious specs in a very slim form factor. Matter of fact, Honor’s foldable phones are the slimmest in the world with a thickness comparable to a regular smartphone. Now the company has launched its first-ever clamshell foldable and we are here for it! Let’s discuss the Honor Magic V Flip in further detail including its expected price in Nepal.
Honor Magic V Flip Overview
Design
As the name suggests, the Honor Magic V Flip is a flip aka clamshell foldable phone. The company is presenting the phone as more of a fashion statement. As such, it ships in three finishes, Champagne Pink, Camellia White, and Iris Black. Each of these options has unique patterns on the back.
Additionally, there is also a customised variant called the high-end model. This particular version of the Honor Magic V Flip is a collaboration with fashion designer Professor Jimmy Choo. Here, the phone has been encrusted with green crystals similar to the crystal shoes that Jimmy is famous for.
Displays
All the designs and patterns on this thing are limited to the lower half of the hinge. Because all of the upper half is covered by an OLED panel that goes around the camera bumps the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra-style. However, the Honor Magic V Flip one-ups the Motorola with thinner near-symmetrical bezels. As a result, the outer screen has a larger real estate of 4 inches along with a resolution of 1,200 x 1,092 pixels and a 2,160Hz PWM dimming.
Moving towards the inside, you are looking at a 6.8-inch OLED screen that can obviously be folded in half. The resolution on this thing is 1,080 x 2,520 pixels making it an FHD+, or 2K screen, if you will. Meanwhile, the inner screen has a PWM dimming capacity of 3,840 Hz while also offering a local peak brightness of 3,000 nits. Other than that, both screens on Honor Magic V Flip are capable of 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and DCI-P3 colour gamut.
Performance
Going even deeper into the phone, you can see the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor powering the phone. This is the same chipset you see on the likes of the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, which I mentioned earlier, and the Galaxy Z Flip 4. Anyhoo, it is a flagship silicon from Qualcomm that launched back in mid-2022. Despite being two years old at this point, NanoReview ranks it as the 12th strongest smartphone processor. Hence, you won’t have to compromise much on the performance side of things with the Honor Magic V Flip.
In addition, this phone ships in a total of four configurations. Those being, 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, 12GB + 1TB, and 16GB + 1TB. The latter option is only available for the high-end model — the crystal-encrusted one. Furthermore, the latest Honor foldable also comes with a 0.25mm liquid-cooled vapour chamber and 2,300 mm2 heat dissipation area to keep the phone temperature in check. On the software side of things, this phone boots on the MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14.
Honor C1+ Chip
Besides, Honor has also equipped the Magic V Flip with a custom C1+ chip. As per the company, it offers users a stable network even in places like lifts and underground, where the connection is infamously poor.

Camera and Battery
Honor is pretty proud of the camera set put on the phone as well. Why would it not be? The primary shooter here is a 50MP unit with a Sony IMX906 sensor and OIS capability. Meanwhile, on the front, you are getting another 50MP camera, this time with a Sony IMX816 sensor. Honor says both these cameras offer you SLR-level imaging. There is also a 12MP ultrawide lens on the back, that also doubles down as a macro shooter. Additionally, the Honor Magic V Flip allows for AI photo enhancements like fixing closed eyes and adding make-up to the photos as well.
And because it is Honor, you are getting their proprietary silicon-carbon battery technology on this phone. Thanks to this tech, Honor was capable of cramming a large 4,800 mAh capacity in this foldable form factor. This number closes in on the battery volume of regular phones and is likely the largest we have seen in a flip phone so far. Moreover, the Honor Magic V Flip also supports 66W of wired fast charging. However, there are no options for wireless or reverse charging.
The rest
This phone comes with dual Nano-SIM slots both of which offer 5G cellular connectivity. We are getting dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth v5.3, and NFC support for additional wireless connections. For security, the phone is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor as well as 2D face recognition capability.
