Last week, Huawei unveiled the FreeBuds Pro 2 Plus earbuds, along with the Mate X3 and P60 series. The Pro 2 Plus is an upgraded version of Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 from 2022, and it brings some interesting upgrades. Like monitoring your heart rate and body temperature. Let’s learn more about the new Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 Plus (stylized: 2+), including its full specifications and expected price in Nepal.

Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 Plus Overview:

Design

Design-wise, it looks nearly identical to its predecessor. It has an in-ear finish and a fairly short rectangular stem with golden-colored frames. These earbuds are IP54 rated against dust and splash damage, and available in a single “Feather White” color option.

Heart-rate and temperature sensor

Anyway, the only difference between FreeBuds Pro 2 Plus and the regular FreeBuds Pro 2 is that this one comes has built-in heart rate and temperature sensors. Huawei claims that these earbuds have the industry’s first dual-type infrared and green light heart rate sensor, which has a 95% accuracy rate in measuring heart rate. You’ll just have to pinch the right earbud to get a reading.

Likewise, Huawei has also used a 3D temperature sensor here that detects the temperature of the ear canal, auricle skin, and ear stems and processes them together with an algorithm to give body temperature readings.

Features

As for the audio quality itself, the FreeBuds Pro 2 Plus comes with an 11mm quad magnet dynamic driver along with a micro-panel tweeter. Huawei says these earbuds have a frequency range from 14Hz to 48kHz. For high-fidelity streaming, it supports LDAC codec, and it’s Hi-Res Audio Wireless and HWA (Hi-Res Wireless Audio) certified as well. There’s also high-definition spatial audio on board.

Similarly, Huawei has partnered with French sound technology company Devialet to tune these earbuds. In terms of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), the Freebuds Pro 2 Plus uses a triple-mic array to reduce ambient noise by up to 47 dB.

Rest of the specs

On a single charge, these earbuds can last up to 5.8 hours with ANC off or 3.7 hours with ANC turned on. Whereas the charging case bumps that number to 27 and 17 hours, respectively. Other than this, FreeBuds Pro 2 Plus has wear detection and multi-device connection as well. But both of them work with a Huawei smartphone or tablet only.
