Huawei Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro Price in Nepal

Huawei has officially unveiled the Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro as the latest additions to its flagship Mate lineup alongside the Mate 90 Pro Max. Both phones bring a new generation of Kirin chipsets, large 6,600mAh batteries, and a triple-camera setup. However, the Mate 90 Pro takes things a step further with a dual-layer OLED display and the more powerful Kirin 9035 chipset. In this article, I will discuss both of these phones in detail, including the expected Huawei Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro Price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

      Key Highlights

      • The Huawei Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro feature 6.75-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED displays with up to 6,500 and 12,000 nits peak brightness respectively.
      • The standard Mate 90 is powered by the Kirin 9030, while the Mate 90 Pro gets the more powerful Kirin 9035 chipset.
      • Both phones pack a 6,600mAh battery, with the Mate 90 supporting 66W charging and the Pro model offering 100W wired charging.
      • Both phones feature a triple-camera setup with a 50MP main camera, 50MP telephoto, and 40MP ultrawide camera.
      • The Huawei Mate 90 starts at CNY 5,999 (~NPR 235,999 expected) in Nepal, while the Mate 90 Pro starts at CNY 6,999 (~NPR 272,999 expected).

Huawei Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro Overview

      Performance and Software

Starting with performance, the Huawei Mate 90 uses the Kirin 9030 that we saw in last year's Mate 80 Pro, and this year's Mate 90 Pro gets the newer Kirin 9035. Huawei claims the Kirin 9035 is said to be around 20% faster than the chipset used in the previous Mate 80 Pro.

Kirin 9035 and Kirin 9030 SoC

Since both chips are designed to handle everyday tasks, multitasking, and demanding apps  you might not face much trouble. However, the Kirin 9035 on the Pro should have more headroom for heavier workloads and gaming. You also get hardware-level ray tracing, with the GPU capable of rendering up to 31 million rays per second on both phones. This should mainly benefit supported games by making lighting, reflections, and other visual effects look more realistic.

Huawei Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro Gaming

Moving on to memory, the Mate 90 comes with 12GB RAM, while the Mate 90 Pro gives you more flexibility with up to 16GB RAM. Both phones come with up to 1TB storage options. On the software front, both phones run HarmonyOS 7. Huawei has also focused on tighter integration between the hardware, software, chipset, and cloud services with this phone. You also get new AI-powered features through Huawei's assistant Celia, including tools for taking notes, handling calls, and performing actions based on what's shown on the screen.

      Camera and Battery

Moving on to the cameras, both the Huawei Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro feature the same triple-camera setup. This includes a 50MP main camera with a variable f/1.4–f/4.0 aperture, along with a 40MP ultrawide camera. Both also feature a color spectrum sensor, laser autofocus, and support for 4K video recording with OIS.

Huawei Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro Camera

The only notable difference that you could notice is in the 4x zoom telephoto camera. The Mate 90 Pro uses a 50MP 90mm periscope telephoto lens with an f/2.1 aperture. Meanwhile, the regular Mate 90 gets a 50MP 88mm telephoto lens with an f/2.2 aperture. So, the Pro model should be better suited for close-up and macro shots, while the regular Mate 90 should still deliver similar results for everyday 4x zoom photography.

For selfies, both phones feature a 13MP ultrawide front camera paired with a 3D depth sensor. Huawei also brings its XMAGE imaging system and third-generation Red Maple color sensor to the series, which should help with better color reproduction and image processing.

Huawei Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro Batteryl

Now coming to the battery, both phones pack a 6,600mAh battery. However, the Mate 90 supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging, while the Mate 90 Pro steps up to 100W wired charging alongside 50W wireless charging. With the large battery capacity, both phones should comfortably get through a day of regular use, while the Pro should have an advantage when it comes to quickly topping up the battery.

      Design and Display

In terms of design, the Huawei Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro follow a similar design with a large circular camera island on the back. Both phones have a premium glass-and-metal build. You can choose from “Black”, “White”, “Green”, and “Pink” finishes for the Mate 90, while the Pro model is available in “Black”, “White”, “Green”, and “Orange”. For durability, they come with third-generation Kunlun Glass for added protection and also carry IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

Huawei Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro Design and Display

Up front, both phones feature a 6.75-inch OLED display with a 2832 × 1280 resolution. The large panel should be well suited for watching movies, browsing social media, and gaming. Both displays also support an adaptive 1–120Hz LTPO refresh rate, which makes scrolling and animations smoother while helping save battery when a high refresh rate isn’t needed. But the Mate 90 Pro takes things a step further with a dual-layer OLED panel, which allows it to reach a much higher peak brightness.

Additionally, the regular Mate 90 can reach up to 6,500 nits of peak brightness, while the Mate 90 Pro goes up to 12,000 nits under specific testing conditions. Both displays also support 1.07 billion colors, a wide P3 color gamut, and HDR Vivid. This should make supported photos and HDR videos look more vibrant with better contrast.
