Huawei Y8s is the latest budget-oriented smartphone from the Chinese tech giant. Like any other Huawei budget device, Y8s features an elegant design and a decent set of specs. Let’s dive deeper into the specs and price that the new Huawei Y8s has to offer in markets like Nepal.
Huawei Y8s Overview
Design and Display
Huawei Y8s has a TFT LCD screen with a diagonal length of 6.5-inch. The device has a Full HD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. It features a notch on the top-center of the screen to house the dual selfie camera setup and the earpiece grill.
The smartphone comes with a nano-textured back panel with different layers of coating. The panel reflects patterns and shadow effects under different lights. It is available in two color options – Emerald Green and Midnight Black. The dual rear camera setup is inside a rectangular camera module, and one can also notice the fingerprint sensor mounted on the back.
Performance and Memory
Under the hood, Huawei Y8s packs in HiSilicon Kirin 710 with four Cortex-A73 clocked at 2.2 GHz and four Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.7 GHz. Performance-wise, Kirin 710 is the same as the Kirin 710F, with the two differing only in terms of the manufacturing process. We tested the Kirin 710F in the global variant of Honor 9X, and it lags behind the MediaTek G90T that is used in the public favorite Redmi Note 8 Pro by a margin. There is 4GB of RAM included, and users have to choose between 64GB and 128GB of storage. With either of the two variants, one can expand the memory up to 512GB using a microSD card.
Camera
Huawei Y8s flaunts a 48MP dual camera setup on the back. The 48MP camera has an aperture of f/1.8 and is accompanied by a 2MP macro camera. The device comes with a dedicated Super Night mode that utilizes AI algorithms and light sensor for sharper, clearer, and brighter pictures even in dark conditions. On the front, there is an 8MP primary selfie camera and a 2MP depth sensor enclosed inside the notched.
Battery and Others
The phone features a massive 4000mAh battery with support for 10W charging. Even in 2020, the device still relies on MicroUSB port for charging. It ships with EMUI 9.1 based on Android Pie but comes loaded with Google Mobile Services. For security, Huawei has included a capacitive fingerprint sensor on the back panel.
