LG’s 2022 series of Gram laptops goes official with Alder Lake CPUs, eGPU support

LG has announced its 2022 lineup of Gram laptops globally. The machines will be powered by Intel’s 12th gen processors and with the option to choose discrete Nvidia RTX 2050 graphics. LG Gram Laptops 2022 Overview:

If you’re not familiar with the Gram line of laptops, they’re portable ultrabooks that prioritize performance and battery life. The LG Gram laptop collection for 2022 has six models with four screen sizes to select from: 17″, 16″, 15″, and 14″. The 15” variant is the new addition in the lineup, as it was not present in 2021. The 14″ and 16″ screen sizes are also available in a 2-in-1 convertible form.

Display

All of the laptops in the LG Gram 2022 series, as last year, have an IPS panel with varying resolutions. The 17″ and 16″ versions offer WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600) resolution, while the 15″ and 14″ models have WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) and Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution, respectively. Likewise, except for the 15″ model, which has a 16:9 aspect ratio, all of the laptops have a 16:10 screen.

In terms of brightness, they all have 350 nits, save for the convertible model, which only has 300 nits. The latter additionally offers touch input and stylus compatibility, as well as Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

Because these are Gram series laptops from LG, they are exceptionally light, with the 14″ weighing 999 grams as the lightest entry in the series. Similarly, none of the laptops weigh more than 1.5 kgs.

Performance

The LG Gram 2022 lineup is powered by 12th generation Intel Alder Lake CPUs. The CPUs by default have integrated GPUs, but LG will also offer external NVIDIA RTX 2050 graphics cards with 4GB GDDR6 VRAM in 17″ and 16″ variants. In terms of memory, they come equipped with up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and NVMe Gen 4 SSD storage.

Furthermore, each laptop has an 80Wh battery, but those with a separate GPU have a bigger 90Wh cell.

Rest of the specs

Aside from that, the camera on LG Gram 2022 laptops has been upgraded to a FullHD sensor with IR compatibility for Windows Hello authentication. On the software front, they include a slew of new apps, including Glance by Mirametrix, which blurs or turns off the display when the user is looking away.

These products will be available in major markets such as North America, Europe, and Asia from the second quarter of 2022. LG, on the other hand, has yet to make a pricing announcement.
