Design, Display
The Surface Pro 9 and Pro 9 5G both measure 287 x 209 x 9.3 mm. However, they have different weights. The vanilla model weighs 879 grams, while the 5G variant is a little heavier at 883 grams. The ARM-based Surface Pro 5G is only available in a single Platinum colorway while the Sapphire, Forest, and Graphite options are exclusive to the Surface Pro 9.
Microsoft has also upgraded the screens on the Surface Pro 9 series to its 13-inch PixelSense Flow display that has a 120Hz refresh rate. Both the Surface devices share a similar display with 2880 x 1920 resolution, 3:2 aspect ratio, 1200:1 contrast, and max 450 nits brightness. They are also compatible with Surface Slim Pen 2.
While the Surface Pro 9 supports auto-color management and Dolby Vision IQ, the Pro 9 5G does not. Additionally, displays on both models are protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

Performance
Microsoft Surface Pro 9 5G is the company’s first 5G-enabled Windows device. It is powered by the Microsoft SQ3 processor which is based on the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3. Buyers can equip the Pro 9 5G with up to 16GB LPDDR4X of RAM and 512GB of storage.
On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface 9 is available with two Intel CPUs, namely, Core i5-1245U and i7-1265U. Models with storage of 256GB and above have Intel Evo certification. While the i5 variant max out at 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB SSD, Microsoft offers the i7 model with up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB of storage.
Furthermore, the Surface Pro 9 5G comes with Microsoft SQ 3 Adreno 8CX Gen 3 for handling graphics. Its Intel-powered non-5G counterpart has integrated Iris GPU instead.
The Microsoft SQ 3 variants of the Surface Pro 9 series benefit from the chip’s AI engine which facilitates features like noise-reduction, auto-framing, and super resolution.

Talking about the battery, the Pro 9 and Pro 9 5G are equipped with a 47.7Wh cell. The standard Surface 9 Pro is rated for up to 15.5 hours of typical usage. Going for the 5G variant should get you an additional 3.5 hours of general usage.
You will find a 1080p front-facing camera and a 10MP rear camera with 4K video recording on both. For audio, they have 2W stereo speakers and dual far-field studio mics. Besides Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1, the Microsoft Surface Pro 9 5G offers SIM and GPS support.
