Windows 365 is a cloud-based service from Microsoft allowing users to stream a full Windows desktop experience from the cloud to any device. This allows users to get their full computer setup from any device anywhere. Now Microsoft just launched a special device tailor-made to run Windows 365, and they call it Windows 365 Link.
Microsoft Windows 365 Link Overview
Design
The Windows 365 Link looks like a regular TV setup box with a compact and minimalist design, measuring just 120 mm x 120 mm x 30 mm. It is made of eco-friendly materials — mostly recycled metals. The top shield comprises 90% post-consumer recycled aluminium alloy, while the bottom plate is pre-consumer recycled aluminium. Similarly, the motherboard uses 100% recycled copper and 96% recycled tin.
The device does not have a fan for active cooling, it relies on its metal body to conduct the heat away from its system. This also helps the device be quieter. For connectivity, the Windows 365 Link features an HDMI port, a DisplayPort, and four USB ports. Three of them are USB 3.2 Type As and one USB 3.2 Type-C. Additionally, there’s a gigabit Ethernet port and a 3.5mm headphone jack as well. In the meantime, it has Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 support for wireless connectivity.

Usage
The Windows 365 Link is purpose-built for accessing Windows 365 desktops, making it ideal for modern businesses embracing “hot desk” environments. Employees can log in from any desk or location, ensuring continuity in their digital workspace — whether at the office, home or on the move. Importantly, the device offers built-in video decoding and encoding capabilities, making it suitable for video calls and conferencing.
Security is one of the main focuses of this device. It runs a locked-down operating system, with no local apps, administrative privileges, or stored data. This significantly reduces the risks of hacking or data theft. Secure login options include passwordless authentication via Microsoft Entra ID, the Microsoft Authenticator app, or a FIDO USB security key.
Moreover, large-scale enterprises can manage Windows Link 365 through Microsoft Intune. This allows them to efficiently manage whatever number of these devices they have deployed.
Microsoft Windows 365 Link Price in Nepal and Availability
Subscribers of Windows 365 Link Enterprise, Frontline or Business can get and use this device for USD 350. The Government version of the service is not supported as of now. Microsoft is first rolling out a preview programme, which interested entities can join by 15 December. It will fully be available in the first half of 2025, wherein the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan will get it in April.
In the meantime, this device will likely not make it to Nepal as there isn’t a very big market for it. But if it does, we expect the Windows 365 Link price in Nepal to be NPR 58,499.
