NVIDIA just announced the Super variant of its 4080 graphics card for a much more digestible price than what the RTX 4080 initially went for. It also brings a bit of an upgrade when it comes to performance with faster memory, more CUDA cores, and an uncut AD103 chip. Super variants of NVIDIA graphics cards are basically GPUs with slightly improved performance and sometimes added features. The RTX 4080 Super we are talking about also brings a couple of hardware tweaks for improved horsepower.
Getting into the basic overview, the Nvidia RTX 4080 Super features an uncut ADD103 chip. That means the full 10,240 CUDA cores, 320 texture mapping units, and 112 ROPs. With all that, if you thought that the 4080 Super doesn’t look very appealing over the 4080, you are not alone. NVIDIA has positioned the 4080 Super for those upgrading from older cards like the 2080 Super or 3080 Ti.
In fact, NVIDIA says that this card is 1.4x faster than the RTX 3080 Ti in games like Alan Wake, Cyberpunk 2077, and Portal with RTX with raytracing and all the other settings cranked to max without frame gen. With it though, the company claims double the performance over 3080 Ti which is super impressive especially if you consider the price.

Since its a high-end graphics card, there’s a lot of use for applications like ML (Machine Learning), creative uses, and streaming as well. For instance, NVIDIA says that producing 1024×1024 images using Stable Diffusion WebUI by Automatic1111 is 1.7x faster, and generating video in Stable Video Diffusion is 1.5x faster than the RTX 3080Ti. Even 3D apps like Blender should run up to 70% faster than previous-generation cards.
