OnePlus Nord CE 6 debuts with a 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED display and a massive 8,000mAh Battery

OnePlus has officially launched its new mid-range smartphone, the Nord CE 6, as the successor of the OnePlus Nord CE 5 with significant upgrades. It comes with the specs that anyone who prioritizes performance in a phone at a reasonable price would find it worth considering.

Starting with the design, the OnePlus Nord CE 6 features a metal cube deco offering a clean aesthetic with a rounded-square camera island housing two lenses and a pill-shaped LED flash on the back. The phone measures 8.5 mm thick and weighs around 215g, which is slightly on the heavier side compared to its predecessor, thanks to the huge battery. 

It has an IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K rating for dust and water resistance, offering way better protection than the Nord CE 5 model. Additionally, it comes with a military-grade standard certification to ensure high durability. It is available in Fresh Blue, Pitch Black, and Lunar Pearl color options. 

Moving on to the display, similar to the Nord 6 model, the CE 6 features a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with 100% DCI-P3 color coverage and 10-bit color depth to deliver vibrant visuals for media consumption. It can reach up to 3600 nits of peak brightness and hits up to 1800 nits (HBM), making it ideal to use under direct sunlight. 

Unlike its predecessor, the new Nord CE 6 supports a fast 144Hz refresh rate and up to 3200Hz touch response, offering a snappy experience during multitasking or fast-paced gaming, which is great given it's a mid-range device.

Under the hood, the OnePlus Nord CE 6 is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip, built on a 4nm node, to offer a balance between high-speed performance and battery efficiency. The company promises that the phone supports up to 144 FPS gaming on selected modern gaming titles, which, if true, will offer enhanced gameplay with virtually no motion blur or input lag. Moreover, it features an advanced VC cooling system to manage heat during heavy workloads and prevent thermal throttling. The phone is configured with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of storage. 

On the software side, the OnePlus Nord CE 6 runs OxygenOS 16.0 based on Android 16 out of the box. You can expect 2 major upgrades and 3 years of security updates. It also comes with integrated Google Gemini, delivering faster navigation and AI assistance.

Camera and Battery

For optics, the Nord CE 6 shares a similar dual rear camera setup, where you get a 50MP OmniVision main sensor with f/1.8 aperture and OIS and EIS stabilization to deliver bright and stable images and videos. Here, OnePlus has replaced the 8MP ultrawide lens found on the Nord CE 5 with a 2MP auxiliary sensor, which is really an unexpected downgrade.
