Well, we are all aware of the tariff war going on between China and the USA lately. This is sure to impact the business of both countries. Apple, in such a situation, is playing it safe by shifting all iPhone assembly for the U.S. market to India, changing its manufacturing strategy in a big way. The company now wants to rely less on Chinese factories and is speeding up production in India to stay ahead of possible import taxes and delays.
Apple turns to India for iPhone assembly
Apple began building iPhones in India back in 2017 with older models like the iPhone 6s and SE, partnering with Wistron. Now, things are moving much faster. Apple plans to make all 60 million iPhones sold each year in the U.S. in India by 2026. To meet this goal, production in India must more than double. That’s a big task, but Apple is pushing hard to make it happen.
Foxconn and Tata, two of Apple’s key partners in India, have already sent out nearly $2 billion worth of iPhones to the U.S. in just one month. Apple even rented cargo planes to fly over 600 tons or up to 1.5 million iPhones to the U.S. to keep stores stocked before tariffs hit. That’s HUGE!! This fast action shows how serious Apple is about moving away from China quickly.
Apple has built most of its iPhones in China for years, but now that’s becoming a risk. Trump’s new trade policies could place a 145% tariff on Chinese imports. Even though smartphones haven’t been hit with the highest fees yet, Apple still pays a 20% tax on goods made in China. Tim Cook tried to get exemptions, but there’s no guarantee, and rules can change fast.
That’s why Apple is speeding up its shift to India. By early 2024, 14% of iPhones were already made there. Experts think this will hit 25% by year-end. India also faces a 26% U.S. import tax, but the U.S. paused it for 90 days so India can work out a better deal. U.S. Vice President JD Vance visited India recently and said both sides were making “very good progress.”
Availability
Apple is working fast to get Indian-assembled iPhones into U.S. stores. They’re already shipping large volumes and increasing weekend shifts at Indian factories to meet the growing demand. The company wants to rely more on India not just for this year, but long-term. While China still handles most iPhone, iPad, and Mac production, this change shows Apple is serious about rethinking where it builds its most important products. If tariffs keep growing, this new plan could protect both prices and supply for American customers. So, what do you think? Will iPhones get cheaper in Nepal?

If you look at the overall mobile market in Nepal, there are still lots of users who still use an OLD feature phone, and they aspire to get an affordable smartphone for watching movies, cricket, video calling, WhatsApp messaging, etc. And I think Xiaomi just made the dream phone for them with its Redmi A5. I got this phone for just 11,999 rupees in Nepal, and I think it’s the best cheap smartphone you can buy right now! In this review, I will share with you my experience using this phone.
But before that, let’s have a quick look at its specifications and what you get in the box.
In the box, we get all kinds of things inside the box – we have the phone, a 15W power brick, a Type A to Type C port, and a generic case.
Design and Build
171.7 x 77.8 x 8.3 mm (193 gm)
Plastic frame and back
I really like the design of this phone. It doesn’t feel like a budget phone at all, especially when you hold it in your hands. It’s made entirely of plastic, but the build quality is sturdy, and you get a couple of cool color options too, so I would say that, for a budget phone, Redmi has actually aced the design side of things here.
And BTW, you are also getting a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that works instantaneously, and there is a headphone jack here as well. Also, I don’t know how relevant this is in 2025, but you can access FM radio from here using a wired earphone. I think it’s cool!
Display
6.88” HD+ IPS LCD display
120Hz refresh rate
Ok, the best thing about the Redmi A5 is the display. Here you are getting a huge 6.88-inch 120Hz IPS LCD screen, and for a budget phone, it’s not bad at all. The colors look good enough, and this display is bright too, at least in indoor situations you are not going to have a problem. Even outdoors under the shade, the visibility is not bad, but in bright sunny conditions, it’s a bit difficult to make out what’s on the screen.
But I love how, even though this is an HD screen, there is no pixelation in the UI elements, and even while watching videos, you will not notice a lack of sharpness, especially on YouTube.
The single speaker on the Redmi A5 is decently loud for watching videos and all. On OTT platforms like Netflix, though, there is no HD video playback support, so sometimes things might look a little dull. Anyway, I also found a little catch with the 120Hz refresh rate. Turns out, this rate is only limited to the settings menu, and everything else, including social media apps, browser, UI, etc runs on 90 Hz. But the 90Hz refresh rate here is smooth enough, so I won’t complain!
Battery Life
Non-removable Li-Po 5200mAh battery
15W charging
The battery on the Redmi A5 didn’t disappoint me either, thanks to its 5200 mAh cell, its low-powered processor, and HD display. On light usage, this phone would last me for almost a day and a half, and even on intensive use, I’d easily manage the day with some juice remaining, so that’s nice too.
And since you get a 15-watt charger inside the box, you don’t have to worry about getting a charger separately. The stock charger takes anywhere between 2-2.5 hours to fully charge the phone, which is a long wait, but then again, considering the price, it’s not so bad!
Okay, up until now I have talked about all the great things about the Redmi A5, but when you get a budget phone, there are certain things that you have to compromise on like the performance and the cameras.
If you are someone who likes to play games like PUBG, the UNISOC T7250 4G chipset on the Redmi A5 is not going to be able to handle it, especially the 3GB RAM variant. In my experience, the most I have been able to do here is play Clash of Clans, Subway Surfers, Temple Run, etc smoothly, but something like PUBG is a big no! I had no problem running everyday apps here like Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, etc., though! It’s just that with this phone, you will have to get used to a second delay while opening apps and while multitasking between 3-4 apps at once.
I do appreciate the fact that Redmi has gone with the lighter ‘Go’ version of Android on top of HyperOS, which means Redmi has cut off on the heavy system animations, so going about the UI does not feel as slow. On top of that, Redmi has promised 2 years of OS updates on this budget phone. In fact, I received one of the system updates while I was testing it, so it’s a good sign!
Camera
Dual (32MP + 0.08 MP depth)
8MP selfie
Next, just like the performance, the cameras on the Redmi A5 are strictly average too. You get a 32MP main camera sensor and an auxiliary lens at the back and an 8MP sensor at the front. Here are some samples I took from this phone.
Daylight images
Day Light
1 of 3
You can see that the images are a little soft and the color reproduction is just okay, nothing extra. I appreciate that the Redmi A5 is able to handle highlights and dynamic range in bright situations quite well. Moreover, in good lighting conditions, it takes good enough pictures of human subjects, too. But again, it’s nothing that’ll blow you away. Just decent.
Night Mode
At night, too, you can take some decent images with this phone. Turns out there is a night mode option too, it barely does anything to make the image better, so it’s not that useful.

Selfie
I think the selfies from the Redmi A5 are decent. The selfies came out bright and clear, with good skin tones and decent background details. Even outdoors in strong daylight, the camera handled exposure really well. Indoors, the colors still look natural, and the portrait mode creates a nice soft blur behind me without looking too artificial. So yeah… the front camera is okayish.
Selfie

Videos
You can shoot good enough 1080p videos from this phone, though. The footage is shaky when you move around, but if you keep still, the output isn’t half bad.
Overall, I feel like the cameras on this phone are only good enough to take pictures of notes and for doing basic video calls, and that’s all!
Redmi A5 Review: Pros and Cons
Pros
Smooth HD display
Nice looking design
Excellent battery life
2 years of OS support
Cons
Average camera quality
120Hz rarely works outside settings
Might slow down after 1-1.5 years
Redmi A5 Review: Conclusion
Overall, to conclude, I think the Redmi A5 is the game changer in making smartphones accessible to people with limited budgets. So yeah, if your budget is really tight and if your usage is not intensive and all you do on your phone is use social media and make phone calls, this phone is the best option.
Even for someone who is thinking of upgrading from a bar phone, or if you are in need of a budget secondary phone with great battery, this phone is worth it for the price. Just remember to get the 4GB variant, it will feel slightly faster! One thing to understand is that the limitation of a starter-budget phone like this is longevity. Because such phones have a weak processor, budget phones slow down easily and might become unusable after 1 or 1.5 years. So, if you are planning to use a certain phone for a long time, it’s better to invest a little more money and get a phone above 15k, like the Redmi 14C.
Nubia has announced its flagship in China with the Z70S Ultra ‘Photographer Edition’. It brings an impressive 35mm equivalent main camera alongside impressive specs all around like the latest and greatest Snadragon X Elite and a blazing fast 144Hz OLED screen. Let’s dive a bit deeper into the Nubia Z70S Ultra including its specs, and expected price in Nepal.
Nubia Z70S Ultra Overview
Cameras and Photography Kit
The primary highlight of this Nubia smartphone is its set of cameras, for sure. It is headed by a custom OmniVision 50 Megapixel ‘Light and Shadow Master 990’ sensor with a 35mm equivalent focal length. Interestingly, it uses horizontal/vertical four-phase technology (4PAF), which, unlike normal PDAF (Phase Detection AutoFocus), can focus faster and more accurately in tricky conditions like low light. Besides that, you get a large ½ “ 64 megapixel periscope lens and a 50MP ultrawide with macro. And, there’s a physical shutter button to give it that authentic camera feel, allowing a half press to focus and a full press to shoot.
The brand also offers a ‘Photography Kit’ that consists of a leather case (supports T mount adapter) and an adapter ring for ND filters and polarizers. You can even mount it on a tripod adapter directly (¼ thread interface) for shooting steadily. Furthermore, Nubia also showcased a lens set that can be mounted on the main 35mm lens, made in collaboration with Fotogear. The T mount lenses in the set include: a fisheye lens, a macro lens, a 139mm telephoto, and a 400mm super telephoto.
Design and Display
Moving on to the design side of things, the Nubia Z70S Ultra has a unique charm to it. It’s your run-of-the-mill blocky smartphone, but the large camera and the rectangular island give it a modern yet vintage look. The phone is IP68 + IP69 rated against dust and water and features an all-screen design with an under-display selfie camera.
The display is equally as impressive with its large 6.85-inch screen estate, 144 Hz refresh rate, and a screen-to-body ratio of 95.3%. The OLED panel is manufactured by BOE and has a peak brightness of up to 2000 nits, 2592Hz high frequency PWM dimming, and is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 7i.
Performance and Memory
The phone is running with Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, fabbed on a 3nm process. It’s got two prime Phoenix L cores running at up to 4.32 GHz, followed by six Phoenix M cores at up to 3.53 GHz. On the GPU side, there’s the Adreno 830. In terms of memory, you get 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM on the base variant, with the top-end spec housing a whopping 24 GB. There’s no expandable storage, but options range from 256GB to 1TB of UFS 4.0 flash memory. Nubia Z70S Ultra is running on Android 15 with Nebula AIOS on top.
Battery Life and Extras
Given the big dimensions, you might be expecting a big battery, and that’s exactly what Nubia has delivered here. The 6600 mAh cell is a Silicon Carbide battery that’s been the trend among Chinese smartphones for the last year or so. With it, you get up to 80W of fast charging to top it off when you run out.
The smartphone has WiFi 7 support, Bluetooth 5.4, 5-point GNSS systems, and an infrared sensor, but there’s no headphone jack.
Nubia Z70S Ultra Photographer Edition Price in Nepal
It’s likely the Nubia Z70S Ultra might never make it to Nepal. Nevertheless, the phone starts with a price tag of 4,599 CNY for the 12/256GB variant in China. Nubia Z70S Ultra Photographer Edition’s expected price in Nepal is around NPR 99,999.

Nikon has launched its retro-style Z fc in Nepal with modern features and components. The camera is styled like its classic FM and FE film SLRs from the ‘80s, with dedicated controls for shutter speed, exposure compensation, and ISO. So, let’s get into the specs, features, availability, and expected price of Nikon Z fc in Nepal.
Nikon Z fc Overview:
Body
The Z fc takes its design inspiration from the classic Nikon FM2 film camera, but the internals is as good as the mid-range Z50. The body is largely made out of plastic but has a textured leather material on the front and aluminum dials on the top. The camera has three dedicated sliding switches to manually adjust settings while capturing images and videos.
Over on the back, it has a fully articulating 3.0-inch touchscreen display. It is a TFT panel with 1040k dot resolution. Unlike the Z50, it flips out to the side. Likewise, you get a 1cm 2360k-dot (XGA) OLED electronic viewfinder with 7-level manual brightness control.
The Z fc shares many components with the existing Z50 model, including the 20.9 megapixels DX-format cropped CMOS sensor and Expeed 6 processor. The sensor can shoot at up to 11 fps with full autofocus. Similarly, you can do 4K video recording at up to 30fps with face and eye detection autofocus.
Moreover, the camera also has Z-mount, which means you can mount all the new full-frame Z mount lenses. There’s a support for the SnapBridge app that helps transfer media from the camera to Android or iOS devices.
Rest of the specs
Asides from that, the Z fc supports USB power delivery and USB charging. There’s a micro HDMI for external recording, a stereo microphone, and a mono speaker setup. However, there is no headphone jack. It weighs around 390 grams and is available in standard two color options — Black and Silver. There will also be six additional color choices available for purchase on the official website.
After its split from Huawei, Honor is bouncing back into the global market with a lineup of mid-range and flagship smartphones. Along the same line, the brand has now made a comeback in Nepal with a new authorized distributor. In this post, we will go through a list of Honor mobiles that are available in Nepal, along with their specifications, features, availability, and official price.
Honor: Brand Overview
To reiterate, Honor is a prominent Chinese smartphone company that was founded in 2013 as a sub-brand of Huawei. While the latter is focused on the high-end and offline market, Honor debuted as an online-focused brand with a range of low-cost and mid-range handsets.
However, when the Huawei ban went into effect in 2019, things changed drastically for both corporations. This barred smartphone manufacturers from utilizing the resources of American corporations, which meant they no longer had access to Qualcomm, Google, and other tech giants’ products and services.
This has significantly impacted both companies, especially in their mobile division. To address this, Huawei sold Honor to Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology, which opened the way for Honor to resume using Google Mobile Services (GMS) on its handsets.
Since then, the company has been riding high in the global market. The brand has made a successful comeback with its flagship number series, as well as entered into the foldable arena with the Honor Magic V.
Honor in Nepal
Honor made its formal debut in Nepal in 2018 through Kratos Technologies Pvt. Ltd. But, this was before the US sanctions and its split with Huawei. Now, as the company is trying to gain a firm foot in the global market under a new holding, it has also opted to go with new management and a distributor in Nepal. Honor is also trying to get into the flagship segment through devices like the Magic 5 Pro.
The brand has now appointed Celltron Nepal Pvt. Ltd. as the official distributor of Honor smartphones in Nepal. With that out of the way, let’s take a look at all Honor mobiles in Nepal, along with their specs and official price in Nepal.

The Honor X6b is a fresh new budget lineup offering from a UK-based company in Nepal. This guy brings a Helio G85 chip, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Which should offer decent enough performance for the sub-20K segment. The key USP here is the 5-star drop-resistant display. This TFT-LCD panel stretches at 6.56 inches diagonally and boasts a 90Hz refresh rate.
As for the optics, you get a dual camera setup: a 50MP main camera and a useless 2MP depth camera. Meanwhile, a 5MP camera is present under the U-shaped notch for selfies and video calls. Likewise, fueling the phone is a 5200mAh silicon carbon battery with 35W wired fast charging support.
The Honor X7 series is coming together with a new ‘X7c’ added to the lineup in the sub 25,000 rupee market. It’s got a slightly more powerful Snapdragon 685 chipset than it’s ‘a’ and ‘b’ siblings and plenty of memory with a sole 8/256GB configuration. But the headlining feature here is an IP64 rating alongside a 5-star drop resistance claim. The phone is an SGS Antidrop and Crush certified and the brand claims a water wash test of up to 3 mins submerged. Anywhoo, the tough durability doesn’t come at the expense of a good-looking design though as the X7c is as stylish as ever, especially in that ‘Forest Green’ faux leather colorway.
The weak link here is definitely the TFT LCD screen. It measures 6.77 inches, can display over 16 million colors, and goes up to 800 nits, but the resolution is just 720p. The refresh rate at 120Hz is definitely an improvement over the X7b’s 90Hz, but the X7c surprisingly downgrades the resolution from FHD+ to just HD. The rest of the specs look good on paper though with a 108MP main camera (misses out on an ultrawide though), stereo speakers, a large 6000mAh cell, and 35W fast charging.
Honor X7c Specifications:

Boasting a similar design pattern to the X8 series, what comes in addition is an iPhone-like dynamic island notch on the front side. Other than that, you get a triple camera setup with a 108MP primary camera, a 5MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro unit. Upfront, there is a 50MP selfie snapper.
Under the hood, the device gets a Snapdragon 680 SoC, fabbed under a 6nm process. As it’s a budget midrange chip, it’s just okay for social media usage and some light gaming on the go. However, the phone goes big on storage with a whopping 512GB of storage, paired with 8GB of RAM. Fueling the device is a 4,500mAh battery with 35W fast charging support.
