Realme GT 6T review: The GT magic is back!

0

The Realme GT series is FINALLY back after 2 years of absence! If you remember, I really liked the Realme GT Neo 2, later was also re-launched as GT Neo 3T, it was a good performance-centric phone back then. And the legacy now continues with the Realme GT 6T. The phone costs INR 30,999 (NPR 49,599) in India but after bank and exchange offers, the base 8/128GB variant of this phone costs Rs. 24,999 in India which converts to NPR 39,999. And for that price, it has got a lot of good features to talk about – like a LTPO display with GG V2 protection, a powerful SD 7+ Gen 3 processor, a big 5500mAh battery, and a 50MP SONY LYT 600 camera. So, how’s the phone? Let’s find that out in our Realme GT 6T review.

But as always, let’s take a peek at the specifications first.

Realme GT 6T Specifications:

  • Display: 6.78″ BOE 8T LTPO AMOLED panel, 120Hz refresh rate
  • Resolution: 1.5K resolution
  • Memory: Up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3
  • Software & UI: Android 14 with Realme UI 5.0 on top
  • Rear Camera:
    • 50 MP main camera Sony IMX882 sensor, OIS
    • 8MP IMX355 112° ultra-wide camera
  • Front Camera:
    • 32MP front-facing camera with Sony IMX615 sensor
  • Battery: 5,500mAh with 100W SuperVOOC charging
  • Color Options: Fluid Silver, Razor Green

Realme GT 6T Review

Design

Let’s get started with the design. And it’s nothing extraordinary as you can see. You get a pretty big camera module with a dual-tone finish. Actually, it looks similar to the Poco F6.
Plus, the back as well as the frames is Plastic here and Catches a lot of fingerprints and smudges, which is something I didn’t like. Maybe they could have given an eco-leather back finish like with the Realme 12 series.

But the overall heft is surprisingly good. And If I have to compare it against the Poco F6, this one feels more premium in the hands. Plus, the back and the display are also curved, so it provides a nice grip too. Upfront too, Realme GT 6T has GG Victus 2 protection. I think it’s the most affordable phone to have such robust display protection.

Display

The Realme GT 6T also has the best display quality you can find on a midrange phone! This display is very identical to the OnePlus 12R. 6.78-inch LTPO panel, 12-bit color depth, it can go up to 1600 nits in HBM and a whopping 6000 nits peak HDR brightness.
The color calibration out of the box is fantastic. So, you will enjoy watching the video content here.

Realme GT 6T Video Playback

As of now, Netflix doesn’t support HDR playback, but it should get updated soon. There is HDR support on YouTube though. You also get High-frequency 2160Hz PWM dimming, so you shouldn’t be seeing flicker at low brightness settings. Plus, it also has TÜV Certification to minimize harmful blue light emissions and flicker. The touch response is also quite good here. So Whether I am scrolling through the web pages or playing games on it, it feels very responsive.

Refresh Rate

Inside the display settings, you can choose 3 refresh rate modes, and while using it in auto-select, the refresh rate is quite optimized. Navigating through the UI is at 120Hz, watching videos switches to 60Hz, and apps like Chrome, Instagram, etc run at 90Hz.
However, I didn’t see any apps going as low as 1Hz as Realme claimed in their review guidelines. Anyway, if you don’t want apps to run at just 90Hz, you can change it to a High refresh rate and even modify it to run certain apps as needed.

Realme GT 6T Casual 2

Another interesting feature I found here is the AI Eye Comfort which detects eye fatigue with AI and adjusts the color temperature. Likewise, Realme has done a nice job by including flagship-grade X-axis haptics. It’s as good as the OnePlus 12 and 12R. You can even change the intensity of the haptics as you like and get feedback while navigating in the multitasking bar. Super Neat quality of life improvement!

Speakers

Another thing to love here is the speakers. It’s definitely much better than a typical midrange phone. It’s loud, has some base, and a nice treble too.

Software

Realme has also upped its software game with the GT6T. It’s currently on Android 14 and the company has promised 3 years of OS and 4 years of quarterly security patches. Plus, there is less bloatware this time, less than the Poco F6. And most of them can be either disabled or uninstalled.

Realme GT 6T UI

Performance

As for the performance, you get the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 chipset, which has a similar CPU architecture to the SD 8s Gen 3 that we get on the Poco F6. But, the GPU on the 7Plus Gen 3 here is slightly less powerful than the 8s Gen 3 and you get a slightly slower X63 modem here.

Realme GT 6T Benchmarks

Putting technicality aside, the 7+ Gen 3 is a very very good chipset. Everything here is as fast as some of the flagship phones. Superb multitasking. Super Fast App opening. No signs of jitters. Everything! The difference is now getting so close that you don’t have to spend $1000 or over a lakh to get a flagship-grade performance and this phone and also the Poco F6 are a prime example.

By the way, the memory type here is LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Realme also claims that they have included a pretty big 10000mm² Stainless Steel Vapor Chamber, but on my regular usage, it was getting slightly warmer, especially when I was on data.

Gaming

Now for gaming, in PUBG mobile, I am getting a stable 60 fps, while the temperature didn’t exceed 40 degrees. Decent! Even, in Genshin Impact, in medium graphics and 60fps setting, the average fps I am getting was 59fps, and there is no dip in the fps as you can see from the chart. But since I am playing it on the GT mode that prioritizes maximum performance, the temperature is slightly higher.

Realme GT 6T Gaming

However, what I found out is, that unlike Poco F6, you cannot enjoy any of the games in high 90 fps or 120fps – not even the low-end games like Mobile Legends. That’s actually something common on all realme phones.

Realme GT 6T Gaming Test

But overall, this is a fast phone you can enjoy games with good stability in most games. Although, I have to say you will get slightly better stability, and smoothness with IQOO Neo 9 Pro or the Poco F6.

Battery

Another aspect that I really like about the GT 6T is its battery endurance. Just like the latest OnePlus phones, it comes with two 2750mAh cells. A total of 5500mAh and I am easily getting like 6 to 7 hours of SOT on heavy usage. So, it will easily last you for a full day without a beat. And with the 120W wired charger, it can take the phone from 0 to 60% in just 15 minutes and 100% in half an hour.

Camera

Ok so far everything I have talked about the Realme GT 6T is near A+. Be it the robust build, display, speakers, or the performance. But how’s the camera? I think I would give it a 7 out of 10. It’s got a 50 MP primary camera with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor.

Realme GT 6T Camera

Camera performance is I would say “satisfactory’’. Reviewing Poco F6 side by side, I can instantly say that realme is better, but I will talk about it in detail in my full comparison.

Daylight

For now, if you look at the samples I took from Realme GT 6T, it has a nice sharpness in photos, and slightly oversaturated output, but looks good in certain conditions. Dynamic range is well maintained too.

Sometimes I found whites to be overbearing, the camera just overprocesses the images and during those times, the images come off subpar, but other than that, I have been pretty satisfied with the output.

Portraits

I especially like the portraits, it has a nice skin tone and color reproduction, and you also get a 2x option which makes the subject focus better, but at the cost of details! Overall, you can get nice portraits from the phone.

Ultrawide

The 8MP Ultra wide images have average details, but the color reproduction is close to the primary images, so it is not that bad.

Selfies

Selfies have good colors and all, smoothened, but nice no complaints!

Nighttime

Nighttime performance in photos is outstanding. I never felt the need to turn on night mode, normal images have great exposure, details, etc. However, as expected, Ultra-wide nighttime images struggle to maintain proper details and lights!

Videos

Now, videos from the back camera were something I expected the GT6T to do well. But both the 4K 30 and 60fps don’t have the best of stabilisation. You get slight jitters and wobbles if I am taking the videos while vlogging or panning, and the video quality and the sharpness aren’t exactly great. And the same with the Ultra-wide camera. It can record only in 1080P 30fps and does not have good details and most importantly dynamic range.

Selfie Video

So, overall, the Realme GT 6T. It’s an excellent effort from the company to dominate the midrange segment. And definitely a step up from the Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+, which I think was a pretty average offering.

Realme GT 6T Review: Conclusion

I think this phone truly does make the midrange segment interesting again! I think, with this phone, you are getting as good of an experience as the OnePlus 12R at a much much cheaper price! I like to call it as a OnePlus 12R Lite.

Realme GT 6T Casual

Plus, what I like about Realme phones is they do push a few updates to improve the cameras. The same thing happened with the Realme 12 Pro where after 2 or 3 updates, the cameras performed better. So, hopefully, Realme optimizes the cameras by a bit. But still, this is a great phone for the price.

Realme GT 6T Review: Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Flagship level performance
  • Best display in class
  • Good primary camera
  • Superb speakers

Cons

  • Poor stabilization on videos
  • Games are capped at 60fps

Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 (2024) launched in Nepal!

Lenovo refreshed its gaming laptop lineup back in January where we got to see a new iteration of the Legion Pro 5i as well. The machine has finally its way here, so let’s take a quick look at the 2024 edition of the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i (Gen 9), its features, full specifications, price in Nepal, and availability details.

Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 Overview:

Design and Display

The new Legion Pro 5 is more of a subtle refresh than a meaningful upgrade both in the looks and performance department. You get a solid gaming laptop with a metal build that is portable and stylish enough to use during classes or meetings. It weighs around 2500 grams with ports on the sides and back alongside subtle Legion / Lenovo brandings on the lid.

Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 design

Just like the more expensive Legion Pro 7i (2024), the Pro 5 can be purchased with a high-res WQXGA screen running at 240Hz. Alongside Dolby Vision and DisplayHDR 400 support, you also get gorgeous P3 colors on the higher-end configuration. The 16-inch IPS screen is similar to the one on its predecessor with up to 500 nits of brightness and anti-glare coating.

Performance and Memory

Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 includes recent Raptor Lake refresh HX series Intel Core processors. Now, you can get the Legion Pro 5i (2024) with Core i5-14500HX, Core i7-14650HX, Core i7-14700HX, and the flagship Core i9-14900HX. GPU options and configuration remain the same as last year offering up to an NVIDIA RTX 4070 with 8GB of VRAM, and a 140W TGP.  You can use ‘Advanced Optimus’ to switch to the integrated Iris Xe graphics to save on battery during everyday use.

Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 fans

There are dual intake fans that pull air from the bottom and exhaust out the sides and the back. On the memory end, the Legion Pro can be equipped with up to 32GB of 3200MHz-DDR5 RAM and 2 terabytes of SSD storage. The M.2 2280 slot is pre-occupied with the default drive, but you can add your own M.2 2242 card to expand if necessary.

Ports and Battery

In the tank, we get to see an 80Wh Lithium polymer battery with fast charging speeds. If you use the provided 300W slim tip adapter, you can take your Legion Pro 5i from 0 to 40% in just 10 minutes or get an 80% charge (0-80%) in half an hour. Battery life, as per our experience with Legion Pro laptops, is likely to be workable but not amazing. It likely edges out most gaming laptops that house smaller 50 or 60Wh cells, but that still means only 4-5 hours of actual work that you can pull off unplugged.

Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 ports

As for ports and connectivity,  you get a plethora of options with a total of four Type-A ports,  two Type-C ports, an Ethernet port, and an audio combo jack. For wireless connectivity, there’s a replaceable WiFi 6E card alongside Bluetooth 5.2.

Should you buy it?

The Legion Pro lineup of gaming laptops is for those willing to spend a little extra for a premium gaming experience. If you can afford the ask, it is most often worth it to go for the latest Legion Pro 5. Furthermore, the latest Core i7 14650HX, RTX 4060 is available for below 2.3 lakh which is a very good deal. Hence, there are no glaring flaws with the Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 and you can purchase it with

That being said, we are pretty sure that the new iteration will start above NPR 250,000 for the i7/4060 combo which might be the best value if you look at current deals for the 2023 model. Right now, you can get your hands on a VERY similar machine with a slightly weaker CPU (13th gen HX or Ryzen 7000 HX) and the same GPU in the NPR 200,000-240,000 range. As such, we would suggest most folks to consider those alternatives first. But if you can afford it and want the latest and greatest, the Legion Pro Pi Gen 9 will NOT disappoint you in most regards.

Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 Specifications

  • Display: 16-inch IPS panel WQXGA (2560 x 1600) px, 240Hz, 3ms, Dolby Vision, Panton X-Rite validation, 500-nits, 100% DCIP3

Infinix GT Book launched in India with up to an RTX 4060!

0

Infinix, a brand mostly known for its budget smartphones, has previously dabbled in gaming as well as the laptop space. But they hadn’t combined the two to launch a gaming laptop yet. That’s changed with the Infinix GT Book which recently launched in India with options for up to a RTX 4060 GPU. In this article, let’s take a quick peek at the features, specifications, and availability details of the Infinix GT Book.

Infinix GT Book Overview:

Design and Display

The GT Book screams gamery with its stylized lid, futuristic design, and LED light bar at the back. We also see a unique ‘Mecha Loop’ on the lid which has glowing properties. That continues on the front with zoned RGB keys and a slightly accented trackpad. The GT Book is a 16” gaming laptop but impressively Infinix has managed to keep it below the 2kg threshold. We are not sure how it’s going to affect performance, but that’s an impressive achievement for a powerful large laptop.

Infinix GT Book Design

On the display side of things, we see a taller 16:10 screen spanning 16 inches diagonally. The IPS panel supports up to 120Hz refresh rate and has full coverage of the sRGB color space. Other aspects like the resolution, brightness, and response time haven’t been disclosed yet.

Performance and Memory

Powering the Infinix GT Book is a mix of 12th and 13th Gen Intel ‘H’ series processors. For starters, you can pick between the Core i5-12450H and Core i5-13420H CPUS which are identical except for clock speeds. On the higher tiers, there’s an option for a Core i7 and Core i9 CPU.

Infinix GT Book Specs

Similarly, there are a number of GPU configurations from the NVIDIA RTX 3050 card to the newer RTX 40 series GPU. The RTX 3050 and 4050 ship with 6GB of VRAM while the 4060 has a little extra headroom both in terms of VRAM and raw power. The total system draw is limited to 115W though which will surely limit the amount of FPS that you can push on the GT Book. Everything is kept under wraps by the dual ICE Storm 3.0 cooling system.

RAM is soldered to the motherboard but you can get up to 32GB of it alongside up to a 1TB PCIe 4 SSD.

Battery and Extras

In the tank, there’s a 70Wh battery fueling the Infinix GT Book that takes its charge from a 190W DC adapter. There’s a Type-C port, two Type-As, an HDMI 2.1 port, an audio jack, and a SD card reader.

The gaming laptop is part of Infinix’s larger ‘GT Verse’ gaming ecosystem of smartphones, laptops, and accessories. It ships with an FHD webcam, DTS-tuned speakers, and a glass touchpad. There’ll be WiFi 6 or 6E support depending on the configuration and you’ll get a month of Microsoft 365 bundled in.

Infinix GT Book Specifications

  • Design and Build: Aluminium body, 1.99 kg
  • Display: 16-inch IPS panel, 100% sRGB, 120 Hz
  • Keyboard: Full-sized, RGB backlit
  • Processor: Up to Intel Core i9-13900H
