Let’s first start with the things that you should consider before buying an entry-level gaming laptop. At this price range, you can’t hope to blaze through heavy games, but most titles should be playable without many hiccups.

The most readily available GPU for laptops in this segment is going to be an RTX 3050 (6GB) with DLSS support. Or even RTX 4050 with DLSS 3 and Frame Generation support if you’re lucky.

As for CPU, you can go with either Intel or AMD as long as you are getting the H-series processors (Intel 13/14th Gen or Ryzen 7000/8000 series). The Intel Core i5-13420H and the i5-12450H are currently DOMINANT in this segment, but under the hood, they are pretty much the same chip with slightly different clocks.

Instead, pay more attention to RAM and storage. Most gaming laptops under NPR 1.2 lakh in Nepal ship with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD, which is not enough for gaming in the long run. So, upgrade to 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD whenever you can, even if it means going over the budget by a bit.

As I mentioned earlier, a lot of the upgrades on the 2024 version of iPad Mini come from the software front. This tablet is now “supercharged” with Apple Intelligence. Likewise, they will also be getting the updated Siri with richer language understanding and deeper system integration. Macbook Air M1

Although it is nearly a five-year-old machine at this point, the Apple Macbook Air with M1 chipset is still a very good option for any light user looking for a fluid, lightweight, and long-lasting notebook for under 1 lakh rupees. The price has dropped significantly from its initial asking price, while the value has risen even more. The M1 silicon might not be the most powerful, but in terms of single-core performance (aka snappiness), it still trades blows with the Intel and AMD offerings in this list.

The battery life is still one of the best in the game in this price range since Lunar Lake and newer Strix Point APUs are quite expensive and scarce in the Nepalese market. The design is a bit outdated in terms of screen bezels, but the chassis is still a premium feeling with that Apple touch. The only downside might be the low amount of memory (8GB unified and 256GB SSD), which WILL limit you if you try to push the M1 too hard. All in all, you can’t go wrong with picking M1 even today.
