POCO X8 Pro goes official in Nepal with a powerful Dimensity 8500-Ultra chip

POCO has finally taken the curtains off its new performance-driven phone, the POCO X8 Pro, in Nepal. It's a performance-centric phone with a powerful Dimensity 8500 Ultra chip and a large 6,500 mAh battery in a fairly compact body. So let me tell you more about the POCO X8 Pro, including its official price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

POCO X8 Pro Overview

Display and design 

Starting with the display, the POCO X8 Pro features a 6.95-inch OLED panel with a sharp 1.5K resolution and support for a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling. It also has a 3840Hz PWM dimming with peak brightness up to 3500 nits for eye comfort and outdoor use. During our testing, we found this screen to be impressively bright and vibrant. Colors look natural, and even when pushed hard with fast-motion games, the screen response felt snappy and smooth.

As for the design, the POCO X8 Pro uses a glass front and an aluminium frame, with a thickness of 8.2mm. Honestly, holding the device, it feels solid and premium for a mid-range phone — a big improvement over previous X-series models. You also get an IP68 + IP69K dust/water resistance on this phone. Likewise, there is also a funky “Iron Man Edition” of the POCO X8 Pro, although that one isn't available in Nepal just yet.

Performance and software

Under the hood, the POCO X8 Pro packs the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset with eight Cortex-A725 performance cores, including a prime core that can hit up to 3.4GHz. We ran some benchmarks on this phone and as you can see from the graph below, its performance bump isn't that massive compared to the Dimensity 8400 Ultra on the POCO X7 Pro's Dimensity 8400 Ultra.

Likewise, the Mali-G720 MC8 GPU handles the graphics side here. In our testing, the POCO X8 Pro delivered stable FPS, good 5% lows, and overall smooth gameplay. Thermals are also quite impressive, considering this is a relatively compact phone. You also get LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, so overall, the performance side of things is very solid. Moreover, POCO X8 Pro runs on Android 16 with HyperOS 3 on top, and Xiaomi has committed to 4 years of OS and 6 years of security updates for this thing.

Camera and battery

As for the optics, it features a 50MP Sony IMX822 primary sensor that can record up to 4K 60 fps videos, followed by an 8MP ultrawide camera that maxes out at 1080p recordings. Up front, there is a 20MP selfie shooter that can also record 1080p video at 60 fps. With this setup, we found it to be just decent enough for casual photos; portraits are also not that spectacular due to the lack of a telephoto lens.

In terms of battery, the phone gets its juice from a 6500mAh cell, which lasted pretty well in our usage. You get 100W fast charging support for quick top-ups, alongside 27W reverse-wired charging.
